One of fifteen original bus shelters in Los Angeles, Manchester and Vermont, circa 1980-1982.

Another blast from the past...

Top - One of the first bus shelters in Los Angeles, Manchester/Vermont. Note the yellow trim on the roof edge and it has the RTD bus route number. Cigarette ads were still allowed then, which our best guess is around 1980-1983?

Bottom Left - These are bus shelters waiting for installation. Note the long posts...these were lowered into cylindrical foundations and suspended on top of sidewalk with the steel bracing until concrete was poured. The company secured the first Los Angeles franchise in 1982.

Bottom Right - a bearded "Bus Shelter" Tom Harmon with his new company truck and what passes for our uniform back then. This was in the parking lot of our facility, which we shared with a beer distribution company owned by one of Shelter Media's investors: NFL Hall of Famer and Green Bay Packers star, Willie Davis. Mr. Davis also owned and operated a popular radio station, KACE, in the same building.

Nelson Enriquez

March 9, 1977 – April 5, 2019

The ShelterClean Services Team is saddened to announce the passing of Nelson Enriquez, who, after fighting the good fight against an aggressive cancer, went home with his Lord last Friday, April 5, 2019. Nelson was a member of our ShelterClean Team for fourteen years, advancing through the ranks, lastly as our field operations manager and senior crane operator, heading up all street furniture installations, special projects, and out-of-town projects. Nelson was an exemplary and accomplished team member and will be truly missed for that and for simply being the person he was. By all accounts, Nelson’s real success was that of a family man, a great husband to his wife, Monica, and the best father in the world to his three children, Damien, Jalien, and Sebastian.

Nelson’s Wake and Funeral services will take place Friday evening, 4/12/19 at 6 PM (Wake) and Saturday, 4/13/19 at 12 Noon (Memorial Service). The locations of these events are shown in the tribute flyer. Nelson’s Volkswagen Car Club is dedicating the April Cruise Night to him. That is taking place Wednesday night. The details of this event are also shown in a flyer posted on this page.
