Termite swarm season is peaking right now across York County, VA — and coastal humidity is the reason it hits us harder than almost anywhere else on the East Coast.

Eastern subterranean termites swarm on warm afternoons after a soaking rain. A mature colony can release thousands of winged reproductives in a single flight, and the pairs that survive find soil contact within feet of where they landed. That means swarmers near your foundation are almost always a sign a colony is already in soil contact with your home.

✅ Tell a termite swarmer from a flying ant in seconds
✅ Spot the early warning signs before structural damage appears
✅ Understand why a Termidor® Certified treatment eliminates entire colonies

Our team has put together a full guide on why late May is peak swarm season in Hampton Roads, what coastal humidity does to subterranean colonies, and how to protect your home before the next flight.

The spring cockroach surge is on across Newport News, VA — and coastal humidity is the reason.

Once relative humidity climbs into the high 70s and daytime temperatures push past the 50s, German and American cockroaches that wintered in crawl spaces, storm drains, and wall voids move indoors looking for water, food, and shelter. Older Peninsula homes, waterfront properties, and any kitchen or bathroom with a slow leak become prime real estate fast.

✅ Tell German cockroaches from American cockroaches at a glance
✅ Find the moisture and harborage hot spots inside your home
✅ Understand why grocery-store sprays fail against resistant populations

Our team has put together a full guide on the species we treat across Newport News, the prevention steps that actually work in our climate, and when it is time to bring in a professional.

🐜 Spotting large black ants around your Hampton home this spring? They might be carpenter ants — and the wet conditions our coastal climate is famous for are exactly what they look for.

Unlike termites, carpenter ants don't eat wood. They tunnel through any wood that's already softened by moisture and turn it into smooth, hollow galleries. That's the catch: if you have an active colony, you also have a moisture problem somewhere in the house.

What we look for during a Hampton inspection:

✅ Sawdust-like "frass" piles near windowsills, deck posts, and trim
✅ Large dark ants showing up indoors after spring rain
✅ Quiet rustling sounds inside walls in the evening
✅ Winged swarmers near windows in April and May
✅ Hollow-sounding wood around old leaks or condensation points

We pair carpenter ant treatment with moisture work — fixing the leaks, gutters, and crawl space conditions that drew the colony in the first place. Spraying alone almost always splits the colony into smaller ones that scatter through the structure.

Our full guide breaks down how to identify carpenter ants vs. termites, the moisture spots they target in Hampton Roads homes, and the prevention steps every coastal homeowner should take this spring.

🛏️ Found bed bugs — or think you might? Here's why Poquoson families call us instead of going the heat treatment route.

Most homeowners don't realize that heat treatments leave zero residue. The instant your home cools back down, any bugs that escaped into wall voids or items moved out before treatment come back to a completely untreated environment.

Our chemical-only approach for Poquoson, VA homes:

✅ EPA-registered residual products that keep working for weeks
✅ Targeted application in cracks, seams, and wall voids where bugs actually live
✅ Two follow-up visits timed to the 7-10 day egg hatch cycle
✅ Interceptor monitors that prove the population is declining
✅ No risk of heat damage to wood, electronics, or your humid coastal home

Our $100 inspection covers bedrooms, beds, furniture, and adjacent harborage points — and if no bed bugs are present, we tell you straight up.

Read our full guide on what to look for and how the process works in Hampton Roads homes.
