Last month, workers at Savannah River Site, a nuclear facility near Aiken, South Carolina, came across a radioactive wasp nest. It had been built on a post next to a tank that stores nuclear waste, but there were no signs of a leak. Although three more radioactive nests have been found in the past few weeks, officials say the contamination is coming from residual radioactivity left over from the Cold War, when the site produced plutonium and tritium for use in nuclear bombs. Carpet beetles want to eat natural fibers, fabrics, wool, leather and silk. The most harm they can do is to your carpets and clothes. The most harm they do to people is a rash if you are allergic to the hair on their larva.

You may have read about beetles following people to new homes or friends’ apartments. This is way more common with bedbugs and not that common with carpet beetles. They infest undisturbed articles, not clothes you wear everyday. They aren’t likely to bother you personally.

Be aware most people do not have carpets made with natural fibers, like wool... Look up the cost of wool carpets and you will understand why! Most carpet beetles infestations are due to a rodent, mice, chipmunk etc... storing food and nesting materials in a wall void. Bug Busters can help with both issues quickly and efficiently.
