Here in the Pacific Northwest, we are blessed with an abundance of berries — first come the strawberries, then blueberries and now blackberries. So, so many blackberries! We have a whole hedge of blackberries that I go out to pick from every day and yet there are still so many!

Believe me, I’m not complaining — I love having an abundance of blackberries — the trick is finding new ways to use them because I am running out of room in my freezer! Recently, I ran across a recipe for blackberry lavender ice cream, which I will be making this weekend. I thought you might enjoy it as well so I’ve posted it on my website under recipes -> desserts. Happy blackberry season!

The great news? This wonderful man turns 90 today! Happy birthday Dad!! We’re looking forward to celebrating with you this weekend!!

The bad news? We will be closed this weekend. (But we are open today, Thursday 9-1)

The other good news? The Willamette Valley Lavender Festival at the Chehalem Cultural Center is this weekend here in Newberg so there are lots of lavender happenings for you all to see!

Friends I need your input…what would you think about “drop-in” wreath making. You show up during our open times, cut your lavender, I show you how to do it and provide supplies, and then you just hang out and make your own wreath. Maybe with a friend? Or do you prefer a formal class?
