**The heat wave has a side effect nobody's talking about 🌡️🪳**

Did you catch the KTLA clip this week? Reporter Rachel Menitoff was live on air covering the SoCal heat wave when a cockroach landed on her chest, crawled up her neck, and hopped onto her microphone, and she didn't miss a beat. Full professional, straight through to the end of the segment.

Turns out the timing wasn't a coincidence. She said it herself afterward: cockroaches are drawn to heat, and warm camera lights are basically a beacon for them. Same principle applies at home. When temps climb like they have this week, roaches and other pests push toward any warm, humid spot they can find, which often means your house looks pretty inviting to them too.

So if you've noticed a little more bug activity lately, you're not imagining it. It's the heat, not just bad luck.

Mosquitoes are rude, but they are also weirdly strategic.
They love ankles because they’re close to the ground, easy to find, and we usually forget to protect them.
So yes, if you feel personally targeted while sitting outside in shorts, you kind of are.
Worst mosquito bite location: ankle, elbow, or “how did it even get there?”

🎵 We watched the “Tick Season” parody and honestly… we felt inspired. 🎵

Someone back east made a whole song about ticks crawling on them and we thought, “That’s adorable.”

Here in Southern California, we don’t spend much time worrying about ticks.

What we DO have is:

🦟 Mosquitoes — carrying West Nile Virus and turning backyard BBQs into all-you-can-eat buffets.

🐜 Fleas — making pets miserable and helping spread diseases like murine typhus right here in Southern California.

Which got us thinking about our own local pest-control parody…

Got a mosquito bite the size of a baseball bat,
Called up Bull’s Eye and they came out real fast,
Now my backyard’s treated and the pests didn’t last.”

We’ll leave the singing careers to somebody else. 😅
