You always have to look up when cleaning. Cleaning fans is important and getting the caked on dust off is good for the fan and for you. Here is some before and afters of a bathroom fan I did. Felt good to get that build up off. You shpuld have seen it rain down when I went in with a brush.

Always trying to fix something that bugs me, today a clients burners that are white. I could never make the white go away. Found a new recommendation baking soda and vinegar and letting it sit. Let's see how it goes. It says over night but unfortunately I dont have that kind of time :/ Anyone else have a hack for this?
