THURSDAY TIP: Understanding Housing Inventory

Have you heard the phrase “Housing Inventory” or "Housing Supply"? Ever wondered what it actually means?

Housing inventory tells us how many homes are available for sale in a given area—and it’s often measured in “months of supply.” In January, our market had a supply of 1.78 months*. This means if no new homes were listed, all current homes would sell in just under 2 months. That’s not many homes! Our current market is a seller's market and this is great news if you are ready to sell your home!

It's important to hire an agent who can understand how to properly price your home. A strategic selling plan doesn’t just look at comps—it also considers future trends and current competing homes. This is one of the reasons you see some homes listed for sale that aren't selling. They’re priced too high or their price adjustments are too slow; they are chasing the market instead of leading it.

This is a photo of a late stage nymph (left) and an adult at rest (right) Spotted Lanternfly. These both were spotted in the town of Haymarket (along with about 100 more in various stages in close proximity). If you see these at your home be sure to report them to your local extension office.

Communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction and discuss additional services that meet customer needs for a complete pest management program

Serve as a problem solver for your customer by utilizing the training provided to decide on the most efficient and best overall pest solution for each customer's needs

Complete all required service-related documentation and leverage your handheld device provided for speed and accuracy

Pick up and set ground traps for animals (groundhogs, raccoons, and skunks)

Serve as a key member of the local branch team!

Requirements:

We require a good driving record and the ability to pass a drug screen. Candidates must meet physical job requirements and safely perform the following job duties with or without accommodations:

Have a General Pest Control (7A) Commercial Applicator's License or register tech license (Cat 60)

Safely use a ladder within the manufacturer's weight capacity

Lift and carry up to 100 lbs.

Safely access crawl spaces, attics, confined spaces, etc.

Ability to work in all types of weather conditions

Pay: $22.00+ an hour plus commission
