Quick Cleaning Tip:
The reason I scrub in a circular motion is to basically maintain momentum while I’m cleaning, this helps the job get done quickly and consistently. Another good reason is that it’s easier to focus on a particular trouble spot or to get the whole mess from a few different angles.

I cleaned this house just the other day for a client who was about to move in. This is definitely one of the older houses I’ve cleaned, but with a grout brush and my trusty dusting glove I was able to work the dust off the tile countertop. One thing that made this job easier is that I had been the one to clean it after the last resident moved out, so it wasn’t that dirty for the second time.

Don’t be afraid to use chemicals, but do be cautious about leaving chemicals on certain things. A lot of antiques aren’t made the way modern things are and so occasionally you’ll find an old chair that melts or something when you use Clorox on it. I prefer to use soft chemicals because elbow grease is the most important chemical in your cleaning arsenal.

A quick tip for mopping:

I make sure to use a sponge mop as often as I can. This helps me to make sure that I can scrub hard enough to get spots off the ground, and it makes the whole process faster; using a normal style mop is too slow and is a lot harder to scrub with.
