This is what paper towels do to a commercial drain line.
We got a commercial call from a business in the San Fernando Valley with a completely blocked sewer. When we accessed the line — this is what came out. A massive, compacted buildup of paper towels and shop towels that had been flushed repeatedly until the pipe was completely solid.
Paper towels do not break down in water. They are designed not to. Every one that goes down a commercial toilet is one more layer building toward a complete blockage.

This clog was completely preventable. A sign on the bathroom wall and a waste bin for paper towels would have saved this business an emergency plumbing call.

This homeowner had recurring sewer clogs for years. It wasn't what they were flushing. It was how the home was built.

When we ran a camera inspection we found the real cause — the original contractor who built the home had installed bad pipe connections from day one. Wrong fittings. Mismatched pipe sizes. A tee junction connected incorrectly that had been causing every single clog since the home was constructed.

No drain cleaning was ever going to fix this permanently. We excavated carefully through the front yard landscaping, pulled out every faulty connection, and replaced them with proper fittings installed correctly.
