Meet Wildlife Resolutions Founder & President, John Hatfield!
Wildlife Resolutions was founded by John Hatfield in 2014. Following eight years with USDA Wildlife Services and three years at Cornell University, John found himself regularly assisting friends, neighbors, and local property owners with wildlife related issues. What began as evening and weekend work quickly grew through word-of-mouth referrals into Wildlife Resolutions, a full-service wildlife damage and integrated pest management company. Since its founding, John has remained committed to providing humane, science-based solutions while helping customers better understand the conflicts they face and how to prevent them in the future.
John is a licensed New York State Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator and Certified Pesticide Applicator. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Wildlife Control Operators Association (NWCOA), National Pest Management Association (NPMA), New York Pest Management Association (NYPMA), New York State Wildlife Management Association (NYSWMA), and serves as the Tompkins County Representative for the New York State Trappers Association. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous industry certifications, including Certified Wildlife Control Professional (CWCP), Advanced Wildlife Control Operator (AWCO), Bat Standards Certified (BSC), Basic Wildlife Control Operator (BWCO), and Structural Bat Management Professional. He is also a New York State Hunting and Trapping Instructor.
As President of Wildlife Resolutions, John's responsibilities touch nearly every aspect of the business. Whether he is meeting with customers, supporting employees, reviewing proposals, managing inventory, handling administrative responsibilities, or planning future projects, no two days are ever the same.
One of John's favorite aspects of the company is the culture that has been built at Wildlife Resolutions. He enjoys watching employees develop new skills, grow professionally, and take pride in their work. Creating an environment where people support one another and work together toward a common goal is something he values deeply.
Outside of work, John enjoys spending time outdoors whenever possible. Hiking, hunting, and competitive 3 D archery are among his favorite hobbies. He also dedicates time to teaching Hunter Education and Trapper Education courses, helping future generations develop an appreciation for wildlife conservation and outdoor traditions.
If there is one word that best describes John, it would be Purposeful. Whether he is helping a customer solve a wildlife problem, mentoring an employee, teaching a class, serving his community, or spending time with family, he approaches everything with intention and a desire to make a positive impact.
John believes that wildlife control is more than simply removing animals. It's about identifying and solving the root cause of the conflict, treating wildlife with respect, and helping people and wildlife coexist whenever possible. Through education, conservation, and professional wildlife management, he strives to create lasting solutions that benefit both people and wildlife.
One piece of advice that has guided John throughout his career is:
"Stay humble and learn everything you can from people who know more than you. Surround yourself with people who strengthen your weaknesses and challenge you to become better."
