2016 Camaro SS
Most normal people looking for a sports car seek out an SS, ZL1, GT350, Challenger, etc & are all happy with the stock setup. Normal people.
Then there's Bobby Ganski...Bobby isn't normal
Bobby found himself this SS recently. It looks like a mild-mannered convertible until you see what powers it.
An L8T block, 416 stroker built by SMC Performance in Monroe, WI is the foundation. A Procharger supercharger boosts it even further. Tuned for E85 the engine puts over 1000HP to the rear wheels.
With a power plant like this, a bulletproof transmission backs it up. TKR Transmissions in Beaver Dam built a 10 speed that can handle the job easily. "Built like a brick $hithouse" comes to mind. Custom axles, rear end & driveshaft finishes it off.
Yes I drove it. Driving something that doesn't weigh much with 1000HP is an experience. Performance exhausts can have a rumble, sound like there's something serious under the hood. This one just sounds pi$$ed off 😆
Now onto my part.
Bobby said the paint definitely needed work & he wasn't kidding. It was really messed up, scratches, sandblasting, swirls & a variety of other issues had this Camaro looking very dull. It can take quite a while to get the car looking good again as safely as possible (remove what I can, make better what won't come all the way out & don't burn it or do any further damage).
After the usual cleaning & paint decontamination I got aggressive with the cutting to get through the mess & then polished it all to refine the GM black paint. Black with no metallic shows everything so it can be a little tricky to get it dialed in, but when I'm done it looks awesome.
All the glass had a film of bonded dirt. I polished all that so I could have a clean surface to apply the glass coating.
As with most vehicles I do, the wheels came off so they could be thoroughly cleaned & prepped to be coated.
The interior was detailed. Convertibles are always dusty on the inside from the top being down all the time. The carpet & floor mats were coated along with the carpeting in the trunk.
After all that, I hit it with this:
🔹️Cquartz Finest Reserve ceramic coating applied to the paint
🔹️Cquartz G-Force glass coating applied to all glass
🔹️Cquartz Finest Reserve ceramic coating applied to both sides of the wheels & calipers
🔹️Carpro Fabric applied to the carpeting as well as the cloth top
If you're local, you will definitely hear this thing well before you see it. And if you see it, you'll just see a shiny black blur.
