You all might recognize Zane. He has worked at Angie’s for 5 years, starting out as a young man just entering his adult life during his freshman year at IU. In the next few weeks, he’ll be off to McKinney School of Law👏.

Today, we celebrated his official last day at Angie’s before he begins this exciting new chapter. We sent him off the only way we knew how—with a Legally Blonde-themed party! 💗⚖️

We are so grateful at Angie’s to see the man you have become. You are hardworking and dedicated, and you demonstrate those traits in all aspects of your life, no matter how small the task.

We are so excited for your future, even knowing that your days here at Angie’s are over🥹. Thank you, Zane, for all you’ve put into our small family business over the past 5 years. No matter where you end up in life, all of us here at Angie’s will be following your journey and cheering you on. You will always be family to us! 💙

🧂 How Does a Saltwater Pool Actually Work?

One of the biggest misconceptions about saltwater pools is that they don't use chlorine. The truth is—they do!

A saltwater pool uses a salt chlorine generator to convert dissolved salt in the water into chlorine. That chlorine sanitizes your pool just like traditional chlorine does. As the chlorine is used up, it converts back into salt, and the process repeats.

That means you still need to test and balance your water regularly. pH, alkalinity, stabilizer, and calcium hardness are just as important in a saltwater pool as they are in a traditional chlorine pool.

Saltwater pools offer a more consistent way to produce chlorine, but they aren't maintenance-free. Keeping the water balanced is the key to protecting your equipment and enjoying a clean, comfortable pool all season long.

💥 Shock Isn't the Same as Sanitizer

Your pool needs both sanitizer and shock—but they don't do the same job.

Your sanitizer works every day to keep your water safe by killing bacteria and algae. Shock gives your sanitizer a boost by breaking down contaminants like sweat, sunscreen, body oils, and combined chlorine that build up over time.

Without regular shocking, your sanitizer has to work harder, your water can lose its sparkle, and chlorine odors can become more noticeable.

Both are important to keeping your pool clean, clear, and enjoyable all season long. Not sure when your pool needs to be shocked? Bring in a water sample for a free professional water test, and we'll help you build the right treatment plan.

As summer winds down and everyone heads back to school, it's easy for the pool to slip to the bottom of the to-do list. But don't let your water chemistry take the semester off.

Keeping your pool properly balanced through the late summer and fall helps protect your equipment, prevents unnecessary problems, and sets you up for an easier opening next season. A little attention now can save you time, money, and frustration later.

If your schedule is getting busier and you're done worrying about the pool, give us a call. Our maintenance team can take care of the water chemistry and routine pool care for you, so you can focus on everything else that comes with the back-to-school season.

Or, if you'd rather handle it yourself, stop by for a free professional water test, and we'll help you keep your pool in great shape all the way through the end of the season. 💙
