The biggest issue in the service industry, is pricing. Especially when the range is far. The lowest cost for a cleaner can be $25 an hour/ 0.05 cent per sq ft. This would generally be for cleaners that use clients products, don't pay taxes or don't have any business expenses other than gas.
The mid range can be about $35/40 an hour/ 0.08/.10cents a sqft. This is a good range medium for cleaners who are legit, but dont have a lot of over head, and their growth isn't the driving force of their business!
The higher end is $50/75 an hour/ 0.10-0.25 cent a sq ft. These rates would be for a larger company with employees, company cars, huge amounts of expenses and the goal to grow.

Each one has its own sets of pros and cons. Every person will hire based on their needs. Some prefer a personable relationship, custom cleaning, same cleaner every time.
While others just want their homes cleaned and done fast.
Some want cheap.
Some know the worth and luxury of having someone in their homes and will pay the worth of security over anything else.

So if you currently have a cleaner and you take the time to look into what you pay based on these factors, you may be surprised, you may be getting a quality service at a very good deal, or maybe you're paying high end rates for subpar work.

The goal is to remember when shopping around, the cost is important, but the person working inside your home outweighs any of that.

House Cleaning Rates & General Information

I receive inquiries about rates and quotes almost daily. While I am not currently accepting new clients, I want to provide a general overview of standard industry pricing to help guide your search for a professional house cleaner.

Please note that the following estimates reflect the rates of professional, licensed, and insured cleaning businesses. Independent individuals who operate for cash without insurance or licensing may charge less—but this often comes with added risk. Professional cleaning is physically demanding work with significant operating costs, so pricing reflects much more than just time spent in your home.

Pricing Structures

Some cleaners charge by the hour, typically ranging from $35 to $80 per hour, with a 2- to 3-hour minimum. Personally, I do not use hourly pricing, as the time required can vary greatly depending on the home, and I prefer to avoid surprises or clients feeling like they’re being “on the clock.”

A more consistent and transparent method is pricing based on square footage:

Maintenance/Baseline Cleanings: $0.08 – $0.20 per sq ft
(Factors include how frequently the home is cleaned, number of occupants, and general upkeep.)

Deep Cleans: $0.20 – $0.35 per sq ft
(Typically more thorough and labor-intensive than standard cleans.)

Move-In/Move-Out Cleans: $0.25 – $0.45 per sq ft
(Usually requires additional time due to empty homes needing full detailing.)

Post-Construction Cleans: $0.50 – $0.85 per sq ft
(Highly detailed work involving dust, debris, and final presentation cleaning.)

While some may compare these rates to cleaners they’ve had in different states or under different circumstances, those comparisons often don’t reflect local market rates or your current home’s condition.

A Few Final Notes

Each cleaner sets their own pricing based on experience, business model, and service quality.

Most professional cleaners do not price match, as our value and services vary widely.

If a cleaner’s rates are beyond your budget, that’s completely okay! It simply means you may need to continue your search to find someone whose pricing and services align with your needs.

There are many cleaners out there—each offering different levels of experience, risk, and reliability. I wish you the best in finding the perfect fit for your home!

Spring and pollen are among us! Make sure you're changing air filters in your home and dust and vacuum regularly to limit how dusty it is!

If you're wanting to do any spring cleaning and you're a current client, please reach out to schedule these in addition to your routine maintenance cleaning. I have no openings for new clients at this time, but I can always fit people in for one time cleans on the weekends depending on size, location, and date needed!

Why do you hire a house cleaner?

Many hire them to help take the load off of the more intense cleaning tasks such as bathrooms, kitchen, and floors.

But if you're hiring a house cleaner to completely replace your responsibility as a homeowner to maintain your home, then you may have the wrong expectations for your cleaner.

Cleaners can work huge miracles on many things in your home. But they are not able to refurbish or restore neglected/worn items, especially if they've been sitting with buildup for months or even years.

As a homeowner it's your responsibility to change hvac filters, vacuum or sweep at least 1-2xs a week, clean up any spills or big messes, touch up paint, squeegee your shower glass, keep your home organized to a degree, get caulking and grout redone every few years, get all appliances maintained to prevent issues..etc...

The only way for a cleaner to maintain your home well is to have an environment that we can work as a team to maintain!! If you leave spills or baked on grease on surfaces for 2 weeks or a month, between cleans, you'll likely damage your surfaces in your home and your cleaner won't be able to restore them as well as before.

I always tell my clients during walkthrough that the cleaning is only as effective as you allow it to be based on how you contribute to your home.

Those who want homes that are pristine at all times, may need to venture more towards maid or housekeeper services. Where they come everyday or twice a week to help with tasks that the homeowner is incapable of taking care of!!

When items in your home have worn out to the point of no return, replace them!!

My goal as a cleaner is to lift burdens from my clients with the understanding that I'm not a magician and if having me is more stressful than not having me, then we might not be a good fit for each other!!

I want satisfaction and happiness with my clients, so I always go above and beyond with little free upgrades to each clean that they may not even notice, but it brings me joy!! If I don't bring you joy, or your current cleaner doesn't bring you joy, remove them so there's no resentment and you can figure out the best course of action that can help you be less stressed in your home!!!

As always, thank you for your continued support! Have a great week.
