I’m Closing My Shop.
Before I explain why, I just want to say thank you.
To every single person who has supported Hayden’s Detailing Services over the last four years, whether you’ve trusted me with your vehicle, shared my business with someone else, left a review, or simply encouraged me along the way; thank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly couldn’t have built this business without all of you.
Now before anyone starts worrying… Hayden’s Detailing Services isn’t going anywhere.
Beginning September 1st, I’ll be closing operations at my shop located at 403 E. Main St. and returning to being 100% mobile.
This wasn’t an easy decision, and it definitely wasn’t one I made overnight.
Over the last several months, I’ve spent a lot of time praying and asking God what He wanted me to do.
As many of you know, I work full-time as a Security Officer with Community Health Network. Between that, traveling to Kentucky, building a new business with my girlfriend, and trying to keep up with the responsibilities and overhead of the shop, I realized it simply wasn’t sustainable anymore.
The more I prayed about it, the more peace I had about returning to mobile detailing.
Ironically, I realized that most of my customers actually prefer mobile service anyway. Being able to come directly to your home or workplace is more convenient for you, and it allows me to continue providing the same quality service while better balancing this season of life.
But through all of this, God revealed something that was even bigger than convenience.
He reminded me that sometimes He changes our direction not because He’s taking something away, but because He’s creating opportunities we never would’ve had otherwise.
About a week and a half ago, I purchased a Ford F-150 to use for detailing, handyman work, and serving customers through our new business in Kentucky. At the time, I simply saw it as a work truck.
Today, on my drive home from Kentucky, God showed me it was much more than that.
I saw an elderly individual walking down the road who waved me down. I felt led to stop and ask if they needed anything.
They asked if I had a cigarette. I told them I didn’t and told them I don’t d, but then instead of just going on my way I asked them a different question..
“Do you have a Bible?”
They told me they didn’t.
So I walked to the back of my truck and grabbed one of the Bibles I keep with me. As I handed it to them, they asked if they could have another one for their sister because she didn’t have one either.
So I gave them two.
As I drove away, it hit me.
If I had been sitting inside the shop all day, I probably never would’ve had that opportunity.
In that moment, God reminded me that this truck isn’t just for working.
It’s another opportunity for ministry.
Some of you may have noticed the HDUB license plate on my truck. It stands for Humble Disciples Uniting Believers. My prayer is that wherever this truck goes; whether I’m detailing a vehicle, helping someone with a project, or simply driving down the road that it points people to Christ.
Closing the shop is hard but also bittersweet. There are so many memories in that building, and I’ll always be thankful for the opportunity God gave me to build this business there.
But I also have complete peace knowing this is where He’s leading me.
This isn’t the end of Hayden’s Detailing Services.
It’s simply the beginning of a new chapter.
Starting September 1st, I’ll be back to serving customers as a fully mobile detailing business.
