This afternoon (6/1/26), we replaced the stock stereo in this 2005 Toyota Corolla. Factory OEM radio wasn’t putting out much sound, all 4 speakers were super quiet and had bad FM radio reception so it was just time to upgrade. We installed this used JVC KD-SR81BT bluetooth radio, with proper install kits and wiring adapters, & cleaned up the wiring. The JVC radio fixed the issues which now has full FM radio reception and better sound quality. The Bluetooth microphone for hands free calling and Bluetooth music streaming was missing since we took this radio out of another used vehicle but customer won’t be needing it since they’ll only be using FM regular radio at this time and due to the original radio not working properly.
After installation, since this car currently doesn’t start nor drive at this time, we were able to check that almost all electronics worked properly the same as before the job. The rear speakers are in good sounding condition so we’re not going to replace them anytime soon. The 2 front doors speakers do not put out much sound, but has improved significantly a little bit with the new JVC radio and is a bit louder than before, so once the customer gets the vehicle back out on the road soon, we will soon begin the process of replacing the front door speakers and the rear speakers can stay as is since they’re still good and not blown out so rear replacements aren’t necessary at this time.

You can also use the other standard size radio dash bracket kit: Metra Turbo Kit 99-8204. We chose the Xscorpion kit because it was a cheaper alternative since the Turbo Kit bracket was a bit more and customer wanted to spend cheaper on the radio kit, so the xscorpion kit worked fine no problem and will do the job.
