patios, fire features, kitchens & waterfalls – that make our clients happy and enhance their lives! In July 2011, Franklin Stone, a rock, stone, gravel, and veneer supplier, brought the largest and most unique selection of colors and styles of stone in Middle Tennessee, to Franklin. Formally known as McKinney Mining and based out of Clarksville, this company, owned by Chad McKinney, gained a new c
o-owner, the CEO of local company, OI Inc, John Harvey. This new venture is already proving successful to its owners and beneficial to the community as a whole. McKinney Mining was founded back in the 1920s by Chad McKinney’s great grandparents, and has continued in the family to four generations. The mining began in Spruce Pine, North Carolina where the family worked in feldspar, quartz, and mica. However, this original mine was shut down in the 1960s when the area was determined to be a historical site. While the original site was turned into hiking trails, the McKinneys soon found new quarries to mine. After running the business successfully in Clarksville for a couple of years, McKinney seized the opportunity to enter into a larger market. Partnering with friend and local business owner, John Harvey, “McKinney Mining” became “Franklin Stone” and has made Franklin its home. Now servicing all of Middle Tennessee, Franklin Stone offers twenty different colors of rock in all different shapes and sizes including Thin, Dry Stack, Fieldstone, Veneer, Flagstone, Building Stone, and River Stone. For all in-stock stone, there is a guaranteed same day or next day delivery within a one hundred mile radius of Franklin. While most selections are likely to be in-stock, for those items that are not, or for orders that require more than two to three pallets, Franklin Stone can get the stone shipped in and delivered within one week. As they do not install the rock themselves, the company will supply a list of installation specialists for the convenience of their customers. Franklin Stone recognized the need in the greater Nashville area for a stone dealer, and they have filled that need in a way that goes above and beyond expectations. Whether you are building, landscaping, or remodeling, Franklin Stone is there to meet all of your decorative rock needs.
