She, keeping track of the books, and Jim stocking shelves and loading chemicals and supplies into customers’ cars. From there, things only grew.

Dolphin Pools and Spas’ legacy spans back over forty years when Tom and Mary Lou Wahl moved to Davenport in 1979 from Minneapolis, Minnesota with the dream to start a retail business. Though their beginnings were humble – selling in ground pools out of their home – through hard work and integrity their business evolved into a staple of the Quad Cities. Their son Jim began tagging along with his da

d around the age of 10, and once their first retail location opened on Hickory Grove Road in Northwest Davenport, he helped his mom manage their retail location. This history is where his love and understanding of the business first developed. The Wahl’s not only expanded their product line, but moved their retail location to North Brady Street. In 2008, Tom and Jim general contracted their next retail location. Tom passed away in October 2022, and due to unforeseen circumstances, Mary Lou and Jim have decided to get back to their roots with one final move and open Dolphin Pools and Spas.
