The Reality of Being a Business Owner

We were in Hilliard, Ohio, sealing this paver patio, and even though we enjoy what we do, Mother Nature doesn't always care about our schedule 😂

Yesterday, we put down the first coat of sealer on this paver patio in Hilliard, Ohio, and then the rain came through.

So today, we're back at it to reseal the patio. That means missing the first Ohio State Buckeyes game, but that's part of being a business owner. When you give a customer your word, you do what you can to keep it 💪

This patio is going to be ready for plenty of Buckeye games and good times ahead 🏈

This older Bexley home, near Wolfe Park, needed a gentle cleaning. With the home and retaining walls being very old, we took extra care while cleaning the stone, brick, and mortar.

Over time, these surfaces can collect dirt, algae, mildew, and other outdoor buildup, making them look darker and more weathered. A careful exterior cleaning helps freshen things up while taking the age and condition of the surfaces into consideration.

Paver patio restoration in Worthington, Ohio.

This paver patio received a deep cleaning to remove dirt, algae, and buildup from the surface. We then removed the old sand from the joints and added fresh polymeric sand to help keep the joints filled and stable.

To finish the restoration, we applied an enhancement sealer to give the pavers a deeper look.

Fresh polymeric sand helps keep the joints filled and can help reduce sand washout, w**d growth, and movement between the pavers.

Travertine paver patio cleaning, joint sanding, and repairs in Lewis Center, Ohio by Clear Water Prowash

This Lewis Center patio needed more than just a cleaning. We cleaned the travertine pavers, completed the needed repairs, and refreshed the narrow joints with new sand.

Travertine pavers are often installed with smaller, tighter gaps, which can make removing the old joint sand more challenging. We did our best to remove as much of the existing sand as possible before installing fresh PolySweep Black polymeric sand.

For these narrow joints, we used X-Treme Wide Joint polymeric sand because it contains more binders than standard PolySweep. The additional binders help the sand stay in place and provide more stabilization between the closely spaced travertine pavers.

How do I know if my pavers still have sealer on them?

Before stripping and resealing a paver patio, it's important to know what you're working with. Existing sealer can affect how the next products perform, so testing the surface first can tell us more than simply looking at the pavers.

We use multiple different products to test for present sealers on a surface. We are checking to see if a sealer is present and if it is a water-based sealer. If a sealer is present, we are also checking the time in which the st****er needs to dwell to remove the old previous sealer.

Some gray areas may not be old sealer at all. It might be efflorescence or calcite, which require different restoration cleaners and techniques to remove than an old sealer. You might have all these issues on the same patio at the same time.

This is where hiring an expert or Master Certified paver patio restoration company is recommended.

Can you tell if pavers have old sealer on them?
Yes, there are simple tests that can help determine whether sealer is still present and what type of restoration process may be needed.
