Look at that brick color!

This brick paver patio in New Albany, Ohio had become covered with moss, algae, mildew, dirt, and years of outdoor buildup.

We treated the organic growth first, then gave the pavers a deep cleaning to remove all that buildup from the surface and joints.

Once the pavers were clean, we sanded the joints with fresh joint sand to finish up the cleaning process and give the patio a much cleaner, more finished appearance.

The red brick really stands out now. It’s amazing how much of that natural color can get hidden under years of buildup.

Why do red brick pavers look faded or dirty?

Over time, dirt, algae, moss, mildew, and other outdoor buildup can cover the surface and hide the natural color of the brick. A proper deep cleaning can remove that buildup and bring the original red color back out.

Sometimes, the day just doesn't go as planned 🌧️

We were in Hilliard, Ohio, getting this paver patio ready for sealing after power washing, deep cleaning, and sanding. Then, right when we sealed... the rain decided to join us.

Thankfully, we used a water-based sealer, so all's well. Once the rain stops, we'll be back to finish sealing the patio and come back tomorrow to seal a matte finish.

Paver patio sanding in Blacklick, Ohio

Fresh polymeric sand can make a big difference in a paver patio. We used Fieldstone-colored PolySweep sand by Trident Protects, sweeping it into the joints and compacting the patio multiple times to help work the sand down into the joints.

After compacting, we blew off the excess sand and watered the patio to activate and harden the polymeric sand.
