Leave the mosquitos in the swamp. South Carolina's heat, humidity, and wetlands make it basically a five-star resort for mosquitoes. Standing water as shallow as a bottle cap is enough for a female to lay up to 300 eggs, and our mild winters mean they never really leave. The Palmetto State is beautiful... they know it too.

The CDC was actually created because of mosquitoes. Founded in 1946, its original mission was to control malaria in the American South by targeting the mosquitoes spreading it. They've come a long way since then, but the mosquito is still one of the most medically significant pests on the planet.

That tiny needle-nosed pest is more complicated than it looks. A mosquito's "mouth" is actually a six-part feeding tool called a proboscis, built to pierce skin, locate a blood vessel, and keep your blood from clotting all at once. Nature is wild... and itchy.
