When termites keep showing signs around a home, it usually means there may be an active colony nearby or already affecting the structure.

Here’s what we focus on professionally in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area:
We start by inspecting the property for signs of termite activity, including mud tubes, damaged wood, moisture issues, and possible entry points around the foundation, crawl space, basement, or exterior wood. From there, we identify the best treatment approach to target the termite activity at the source and help protect the home from further damage.

We also provide recommendations to reduce moisture, remove wood-to-soil contact, and lower the chances of future termite problems.

The goal isn’t just to treat the termites you notice. It’s to protect your home before the damage becomes more serious.

“We’ve always had great experiences with Guardian Pest & Termite — in fact, before switching to them, we never really had much luck staying consistently pest-free. Since using their services, our home has been worry-free, and their results speak for themselves.”

Termite problems can be stressful, especially when the damage is hidden behind walls, floors, crawl spaces, or foundations. We do our best to provide reliable service, clear communication, and treatments that help homeowners feel confident their property is protected.

If you’re seeing early signs of termites around your home in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area, there are a few basic things I always suggest checking first.

Start with areas where moisture and wood are close together. Check around your foundation, crawl space, basement, porch, deck, and any wooden areas that touch the soil. I also recommend looking for mud tubes, discarded wings near windows or doors, soft or hollow-sounding wood, and bubbling or uneven paint.

Fixing leaks, improving drainage, keeping gutters clear, and moving firewood or wood debris away from the house can also help reduce termite attraction.

These steps can help lower the chances of termite activity around your home. They won’t eliminate an active colony, but they do make your property less inviting and can help you spot warning signs earlier.

May is when termite activity can become more noticeable around the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area.

At first, homeowners may not see much at all—maybe a few discarded wings near windows, mud tubes along the foundation, or wood that starts to sound hollow. But once termites are active around a property, they can continue damaging wood silently without proper treatment.

Termites typically build hidden colonies near moisture sources, soil, foundations, crawl spaces, or wooden structures. As activity increases, they can move into walls, flooring, baseboards, and other wooden areas of the home. Without proper control, termite colonies can grow and cause costly structural damage before the signs become obvious.

I always appreciate when customers in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area take the time to leave feedback.

Here’s a recent 5-star review from Brandon Lee, a Guardian Pest & Termite Services customer:

“David was very thorough and explained everything clearly. He focused on the problem areas and didn’t overdo anything. We noticed a big difference within a few days.”

This kind of feedback matters because it shows that people notice the approach just as much as the results. Taking the time to explain things and handle the problem in a controlled way goes a long way.

When pest activity keeps coming back, I usually find that the issue isn’t just what’s inside the home.

Here in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area, my approach at Guardian Pest & Termite Services is focused on handling the source of the problem while keeping things controlled and targeted.

For ants, that often means finding where they’re entering and addressing the nest outside. For spiders, it’s about reducing insect activity around the home and treating areas where they settle.

I also look at entry points, moisture issues, and conditions around the property that might be contributing to the problem.

The goal isn’t to treat everything—it’s to treat the right areas so the problem doesn’t keep coming back.

If you’re starting to notice pest activity around your home in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area, there are a few simple things I usually recommend first.

These steps won’t solve everything on their own, but they do help reduce what’s attracting pests in the first place.

Keeping counters and floors clean, especially in the kitchen, goes a long way. I also suggest not leaving pet food out overnight and storing pantry items in sealed containers so pests don’t have easy access to food.

It helps to seal small gaps around windows, doors, and utility lines, since those are common entry points. Outside, trimming plants and mulch back from the foundation can reduce hiding spots close to the home.

I also recommend knocking down spider webs as soon as you see them and limiting outdoor lighting at night, since lights tend to draw in insects. Fixing small leaks inside is just as important, because moisture can attract pests as well.

I’ve found that staying consistent with these small steps makes a noticeable difference over time.

April is when I start getting more calls here in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area from homeowners dealing with ants, spiders, and general insect activity around the house.

A lot of the time, the concern isn’t just the pests—it’s how to handle them without overdoing it.

Most people I talk to don’t want heavy treatment inside their home, especially if they have kids or pets. But at the same time, the activity is there.

Ants start showing up in kitchens, spiders settle in garages and corners, and insects gather around doors and lights.

The issue is that once pests find food, moisture, or shelter, they tend to stick around. And if the conditions stay the same, the problem usually grows over time.

This is a recent job where we handled the problem with a more controlled approach.

I usually find that when ants keep coming back, the real issue is outside the home.

Here in South Carolina, my approach at Guardian Pest & Termite focuses on identifying the species, locating the colony, and addressing both the source and the entry points. Spraying inside alone rarely solves the problem long term.

That means tracing the trail, finding how they’re getting in, treating the exterior nest when possible, and sealing gaps around windows, siding, and foundations.

I also look at moisture issues and landscaping conditions that might be contributing to the problem.

The goal isn’t just to stop the ants you see today, but to prevent the same issue from happening again next month.
