I always tell homeowners that termites are easy to miss because most of their activity happens where you can't see it.
Here in the Greater Charlotte area, I often find termite activity around foundations, crawl spaces, garages, and other areas where soil, moisture, and wood are close together.
Sometimes the first clue is nothing more than a thin mud tube along the foundation or a few discarded wings near a window. Those signs may look small, but they're worth checking because termites can already be active elsewhere in the structure.
I recently handled a termite job that started with one small mud tube a homeowner found while cleaning their garage.
I wrote up what we found and how the problem was handled in this month's journal.
