I’ll tell my story over and over again because when you’ve gone from wondering how much longer you can keep a roof over your head to building multiple businesses from the ground up, you don’t take that progress for granted.

Just a few years ago, life looked very different for me. I was a single mom to my nonverbal autistic son, working a full time WFH job, doing DoorDash on the side, and processing laundry orders for another company.

At the time, I knew the eviction process better than the average person should. I always managed to dig myself out right before my court date, but by the time I scraped up enough to cover rent, late fees, and the extra $350 to cancel the eviction, the next month’s rent was already due. I could never catch up, and each month I wondered if this would be the time I’d pack up our things to live in my car.

I made a post in a local Facebook group hoping to earn a little bit of extra money on the side. I wasn’t trying to build a business, I was just trying to survive the week.

That post received more support than I ever would have imagined, and just a few months later, The Laundry Lady LLC was born.

I’ve made plenty of mistakes, learned some hard lessons, and dealt with things that could have ended this business. But here we are, three months away from our third year anniversary, and I’m so incredibly proud of that.

Along the way, I’ve built a village. I have an amazing group of independent contractors who help make all of this possible, and I get to help them support their families too. Together, we’ve earned almost 100 five star Google reviews, been featured in VoyageDenver Magazine, and taken home Gold for Best of the Springs 2026. I’ll also be speaking at a women’s summit in April, and I never imagined that sharing my story would give me the chance to encourage other women.

We’ve expanded to Utah, and we’ll be doing business in Arizona by January. I opened our sister company, Lake Norman Laundry Co. in North Carolina, which celebrated its first anniversary this year. I also just registered my next business this month, and soon I’ll be teaching others how to start and scale their own laundry service.

The Laundry Lady page is also monetized! I’m still learning to get comfortable on camera, but knowing that sharing what I’m building can create another source of income is pretty exciting too.

Most importantly, we’ve been able to help so many people by taking laundry off their plate. Something that started because I needed help supporting my own family has turned into something that helps other families too, and that means so much to me.

I still have a lot I want to accomplish, but there was a time when the life I have now would have felt impossible. I’m proud of what I’ve built, but more than anything, I feel incredibly blessed— to do work that matters to me, to support my son, and to have so many people rooting for this little business of mine.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. Whether you’ve placed an order, shared my posts, recommended us, or supported that very first post I made, you’ve been part of this.

Nominations for Best of the Springs are open, and if you feel we’ve earned it, I would really appreciate you taking a moment to nominate The Laundry Lady LLC. Winning Gold this year meant so much, and I’d be grateful for the chance to do it again. ❤️

What would you have more time for if you didn’t have laundry waiting for you?

A walk with your family, a Saturday spent exploring, or an afternoon actually resting instead of catching up on chores. Sometimes it’s being able to say “yes, we have time” when your kids ask to do something.

What would you do with a few extra hours this week?

Little clothes can turn into a big pile pretty quickly. There’s something so satisfying about turning it all into neat stacks of tiny pajamas, favorite shirts, and outfits ready for another busy week. All that’s left is putting them in the drawers. 🤍

Being your own boss sounds good until you realize there’s nobody above you to hand the hard stuff to.

The bills still need to be paid. The problems still need an answer. And you still have to make decisions when you’re tired, overwhelmed, or unsure of yourself.

Some mornings you check your bank account and finally exhale. Other mornings it’s in the negatives, and you’re doing math before you’ve even gotten out of bed.

The highs are high, but the lows are really fu***ng low.

You can celebrate a win and worry about next month in the same breath. That uncertainty is hard to explain to someone who sees your business doing well and assumes that means you’re always doing well, too.

Then there’s the loneliness of building something you can see so clearly while people around you don’t understand it. Not everyone will understand your vision, and you have to be okay with that. You can love people, value their opinions, and still keep going without their approval.

Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone. It requires your time, your comfort, your willingness to make a decision without knowing how it will turn out. Sometimes the sacrifices are bigger than you expected, and the results take longer than you hoped.

But before you talk yourself out of it, ask yourself: what if it works? What if the thing you’re struggling to build today eventually gives you the life you wanted when you started?

It takes grit to keep going when nothing feels certain. Give yourself credit for that and make adjustments where you need to.

You were born for this. Keep going.

Me trying to act normal after delivering your laundry, knowing we just gave you back your entire evening. 😂🙌

No loads to switch. No pile to fold. No spending your day off catching up.

Go enjoy your family, your couch, or absolutely nothing. You’ve got time for that now.

There’s a certain kind of relief that comes with getting all of the laundry back clean, folded, and ready to put away.

No digging through a warm pile looking for matching socks. No wrinkled clothes living in a basket for the next four days.

Just bags of fresh, neatly folded laundry showing back up at your door.

Your laundry gets handled. You get your evening back. 🧺💜

A little different from the laundry content I normally share here, but this is something that matters to me.

Autism looks great on a T-shirt until an autistic person acts in a way that makes you uncomfortable.

Until their tone comes across differently than you expected. Until they miss a social cue. Until they communicate differently, become overwhelmed, need things explained differently, or react in a way you don’t understand.

It’s easy to preach autism acceptance when autism is a puzzle piece, a slogan, or something you can advocate for from a distance.

Actual acceptance means understanding that autistic children grow into autistic adults.

And those adults don’t suddenly stop having autistic traits just because society expects them to know how to act.

You don’t have to excuse genuinely harmful behavior because someone is autistic. But there’s a big difference between holding someone accountable for causing harm and judging someone because their communication, reactions, or needs don’t fit your definition of “normal.”

Acceptance shouldn’t end when autism stops being comfortable for you. You can wear the shirt. Share the post. Put up the sign.

But the real test of acceptance is how you treat autistic people when their autism actually shows.

And because this is still The Laundry Lady page — use code AUTISMSPEAKS for 10% off any order picked up today or tomorrow. 🧺💜
