⚠️⚠️ATTN: Cherokee Water Customers⚠️⚠️
Customers experienced a brief water outage due to a leaking water main. This water line repair caused little to no water. This is for customers of Ella Sequoyah rd in the Big Cove community.
The Cherokee water system water main was shut down on 06/01/2026 at 12:00 p.m. for repairs. This led to a loss of pressure in the distribution system, which may cause backpressure, backsiphonage, or a net movement of water from outside the pipe to the inside through cracks, breaks, or joints in the distribution system that are common in all water systems.
This advisory will last up to 48 hours or until a notice has been given that it has been lifted. During a boil water Residents in affected areas should only ingest tap water after it’s been boiled for one minute or use bottled water. Only boiled tap water should be used for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, watering pets or preparing food and infant formula.
Samples will be collected from multiple locations within the affected system and will be analyzed for any bacteria. We will monitor the presence of adequate disinfectant, residual, and maintenance of consistent pressure throughout the system.
If you have any questions or concerns please call 828-359-6106.
