Our office will be closed tomorrow Friday, January 10th due to weather.
We want to reshare our winter freeze post. Please read if you have a pool that’s still open ❄️🌨️
‼️❄️ATTENTION POOL OWNERS❄️‼️
Check out the tips below to protect your pool during freezing temps!
If you don't winterize your pool the following tips will help you protect your investment during below normal temperatures.
Freeze Protection - Do not rely on freeze protection alone. Power outages and other factors can cause the freeze protection to fail. Periodically check that your equipment is running correctly during freezing temperatures.
Cover Your Equipment - Place a tarp over your equipment and put a work light with a 60 watt bulb under the tarp.
Concrete/Rock - It is very common to see concrete and rock rise, settle, shift and crack during freezing temperatures.
Ice Formations - If you see ice forming on your pool or water features, do not attempt to break it up. Breaking the ice formations could damage your pool surfaces.
Cover Your Spa - If you have a spillover spa verify that the freeze protection is enabled for the spa in your system. Place a tarp over your spa to help prevent ice from forming inside the spa.
Drain Your Equipment - In the event of long power outages or equipment failure you should remove the plugs from your filter and pump(s). Make sure you turn off the valves for your skimmer(s) and main drain to prevent completely draining your pool. A half full bottle of water dropped into your skimmer(s) will help protect the skimmer from cracking if it freezes.
KEEP IN MIND WINTER AND FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE JUST GETTING STARTED. WE CARRY BOTH 50 # CALCIUM AND 40 # SALT, WHICH ARE BOTH GREAT TO HELP ELIMINATE ANY ICE PROBLEMS.
