A lot of houses up here can't send septic water to the drain field by gravity, so there's a pump tank out back and a control panel like this one on a post in the yard. When that red light and buzzer go off, it means the level in the pump tank is higher than it should be. It doesn't tell you why.
What I'd do in the first hour: hit the silence button, cut water use way back (no laundry, no dishwasher, short showers), and check the pump breaker. Reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off. And don't open the tank.
Pumping alone usually won't fix it. If the pump, a float or the panel has quit, the alarm comes right back. We test and repair the equipment, and when pumping is needed we line that up with the local pumpers we work with.
