🥑 Happy National Avocado Day! 🥑

If you know me, you probably know that I absolutely LOVE avocados! 💚

One of my favorite things to make is homemade avocado bread. It’s simple, healthy, and so delicious! I usually enjoy it just as the recipe is written, but sometimes I’ll add a little shredded cheese, cottage cheese, or even both for a little extra protein.

Here’s another little behind-the-scenes look at how I prepare for the week ahead.

These are the cleaning gloves I wear while working. As long as they’re still in good condition, with no holes or tears, I wash them. I also let them air dry on a glove drying rack before using them again.

🧽 Kelly’s Honest Cleaning Opinion: Magic Erasers

Magic Erasers can be helpful, but I use them very sparingly. They are made from melamine foam and clean through a mild abrasive action—almost like extremely fine sandpaper.

Because of that, they can dull, scratch, or remove the finish from certain surfaces. Avoid using them on stainless-steel appliances, nonstick cookware, finished wood, vehicle paint, or glossy, polished, dark, brushed, and satin finishes. Even the manufacturer recommends testing a hidden area first and using light pressure.

My biggest concern is microplastics. As the sponge wears down, it breaks into tiny plastic fibers. A 2024 study found that worn melamine sponges could release millions of microplastic fibers per gram.

For that reason, I barely use them anymore. They may work well for certain jobs, such as brightening white shoe soles, but they are not my first choice for everyday cleaning.

🚨 After-Hours Workplace Incident Report 🚨

Position: Chief Cleanliness Officer & Troublemaker

Biddy was caught carrying a mouse through the house during the night shift.

Management initially believed he had the situation under control—until he dropped the mouse, it ran directly toward management, and management screamed, retreated into the bedroom, and shut the door. 🤣

Biddy remained on duty while management refused to return to the scene.

Final determination:
Biddy claims he was performing after-hours pest control.
Management claims this was a hostile workplace incident.

🧼 Tuesday Bathroom Cleaning Tip

Here’s a bathroom sink drain I cleaned last week. One of the most overlooked places in a bathroom is the sink drain.

Over time, everyday use can allow soap residue, hair, and normal buildup to collect beneath the drain stopper—even in homes that are cleaned regularly.

Today I carefully removed the drain stopper, cleaned underneath it, and reassembled everything once it was sparkling clean.

It’s one of those little details that can make a big difference! ✨
