How much does a geodesic dome cost? It depends on a few key choices. 💰

✔️ Size: a 16 ft studio dome and a 44 ft dome home are very different projects
✔️ Frame: heavier tubing for snow and wind loads costs more than a standard frame
✔️ Windows and doors: bay windows, skylights, round windows, and zipper or pre-hung doors
✔️ Comfort: insulated liners, Thermoshield paint, wood stoves and ventilation fans
✔️ Floor and foundation: a stationary joist floor, a portable deck or a perimeter plan
✔️ Setup: assemble it yourself with our manuals, or have our team help on site

That's why the best way to price a geodesic dome is to start with how you'll use it. Our dome sizes run from 16 ft to 120 ft, so there's an option for nearly every project and budget.

What is an immersive dome? 🌌

An immersive dome is a geodesic dome turned into a 360° projection space. Instead of watching a screen in front of you, the visuals wrap around the whole room, overhead and all around, so the audience feels like they're inside the experience.

Immersive domes are used for:

🎬 360° films and digital art shows
🔭 Planetarium-style space and science experiences
🎶 Concerts, DJ sets and festival stages
🏢 Brand activations and product launches
🧘 Sound baths, meditation and wellness journeys

A geodesic dome works so well for this because its freestanding frame has no interior poles blocking the view. It's also engineered to support lighting and sound equipment, and it can be heated or cooled to keep guests comfortable.

We've worked with planetarium and projection dome partners around the world to bring immersive experiences to life.

What size geodesic dome do I need? Start with these questions 📐

1️⃣ What will you use it for? A studio or guest retreat needs far less space than a full-time home or event venue.
2️⃣ How many people will use it? Think about sleeping space and how many guests you'll host.
3️⃣ What goes inside? A bathroom, kitchen or loft calls for a larger dome.
4️⃣ How much room do you have? Your dome sits on a round deck or platform, so measure your site.
5️⃣ What's your climate? Bigger domes and harsh weather may need a heavier frame.

As a starting point, a 20 ft dome gives you about 296 sq ft of floor space, which is plenty for a cozy glamping retreat. Our dome homes range from 16 ft to 44 ft, and our event domes go all the way up to 120 ft.

Geodesic dome vs. yurt: what's the difference? 🤔

Both are round, portable and great for glamping, but they're built very differently.

⛺ Yurt: vertical lattice walls topped with a cone-shaped roof of rafters that meet at a center ring. The straight walls make it easy to put furniture right up against the edges.

🔺 Geodesic dome: a self-supporting frame of interconnected triangles that curves from floor to peak. Loads from snow and wind are spread across the whole structure, there are no interior support poles, and the domed ceiling gives you lots of open, airy space.

Our geodesic domes come with galvanized steel frames sized for your local snow and wind loads, in sizes from 16 ft for a cozy retreat up to 120 ft for event spaces.

Is a geodesic dome your next home? 🏡

More people are choosing geodesic dome homes as an alternative way to live, and it's easy to see why:

✔️ Strength: the network of triangles makes a dome one of the strongest structures ever designed
✔️ Open space: no interior support poles, just high ceilings and an open floor plan
✔️ Year-round comfort: insulated liners keep domes comfortable from Michigan winters to Arizona summers
✔️ Fast setup: once your deck is ready, a dome can go up in about a day

We're the original dome company, family owned and operated in Ashland, Oregon since 1980. Every dome is made right here in the USA and shipped all around the globe 🌍

What are geodesic domes used for at events? More than you might think. 🎪

Event domes turn open ground into a showpiece venue for:

🎉 Weddings and private celebrations
🏢 Brand activations, product launches and trade shows
🎶 Festivals, VIP lounges and stages
🌌 Immersive 360° projection experiences
🍽️ Pop-up dining and hospitality spaces

Geodesic domes for events stand out because the freestanding frame needs no interior poles, leaving the floor wide open. It's engineered to support lighting and sound equipment, and the cover can be custom printed inside and out with your branding. Domes can even be connected to create a full event complex, with heating or air conditioning to keep guests comfortable.

From an elegant wedding dome on Treasure Island to a complex of event domes in Dubai, and brands like NASA, Toyota and Sony, our event domes go from 16 ft up to 120 ft.

Is your geodesic dome ready for winter? ❄️ Here's a quick checklist before the snow arrives.

✔️ Insulate: insulated liners keep the heat in and make the dome much cozier
✔️ Heat: a wood stove installation kit adds warmth, even off the grid
✔️ Ventilate: keep some airflow going to cut down on condensation inside
✔️ Check your anchors: make sure the frame is still secured to its deck or foundation
✔️ Clear heavy snow: after a big storm, gently brush built-up snow off the cover
✔️ Know your frame: domes in snowy climates should have frame tubing sized for local snow loads

With the right setup, geodesic domes for snow country are cozy all season long 🏔️

Save this for your winter prep 🔖

How do geodesic domes handle high winds? 💨

It starts with the shape. A dome has no flat walls for wind to push against, so the wind flows around its curved surface instead of hitting it head-on. Because the frame is a network of triangles, any force that does hit the dome is spread across the whole structure.

Our frames are galvanized steel and come in four tubing sizes (Standard, Heavy Duty, Burly and Extreme), so each dome can be matched to your local wind load. Anchors are supplied to secure the frame to concrete, earth, asphalt or a deck, and our engineering team customizes frames for extreme-weather areas.

Pacific Domes frames are made to endure hurricane winds up to 100 mph.

What kind of floor does a geodesic dome need? It depends on how long you plan to stay. 🏡

We offer three floor plans for our geodesic dome kits:

🪵 Stationary joist floor: a solid, built-in floor that's perfect for long-term living
🥧 Portable "pie piece" deck: comes apart in sections, so you can take it down and move it easily
⭕ Perimeter plan: made for a nomadic lifestyle, pairing a perimeter board with a heavy-duty vinyl floor to create a waterproof barrier
