Mother care, newborn care instruction, household help, and feeding support, offered with love and respect for your family's wishes. Having a postpartum doula's extra set of eyes and hands in your home to do the following can help make your newborn period a peaceful and stress-free time:
- prepare healthy, nourishing meals for you
- do light housework, dishes, laundry, home organization, etc

watch baby while you rest, shower or sleep
- assist you with any and all breastfeeding or formula feeding questions
and issues you might have
- provide overnight care for wakeful newborns so parents can get some
sleep
- have your newborn brought to you at nursing times during the night,
allowing you to stay in bed and feed
- bottle feed your newborn so you can get a full night's rest
- diaper, soothe, and resettle your baby at night
- teach you about evidence-based, general newborn care
- provide babywearing instruction and expertise
- provide caring, nonjudgemental support
- act as a buffer between the bonding mother and baby and other family
members or visitors
- engage and care for other siblings
I am a trained (certification pending) Postpartum Doula and certified volunteer La Leche League Leader here in Anchorage. My husband and I have the great privilege of raising three wild and beautiful sons. All of our babies were born in places where we had no other family nearby, and help during our newborn periods was scarce. My desire is to serve the families of Anchorage with gentleness and understanding of the early days and weeks, providing them with the time and space to rest, relax, recover, and bond together.
