This is not my restaurant.. Just letting everyone know.
A HEARTFELT LETTER TO OUR
PORT ST.
JOHN & COCOA COMMUNITIES
MY ISLAND
SMOKEHOUSE | 4885 U.S. 1, COCOA, FLORIDA
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We know that many families in our community are facing difficult financial decisions right now. The costs of groceries, housing, insurance, utilities, and everyday necessities have increased significantly.
We understand that dining out is a luxury for many families, and we never take it for granted when you choose to spend your hard-earned money with us.
With that understanding, we want to share an honest update about My Island Smokehouse, located at 4885 U.S. 1 in Cocoa, between the Port St. John and Cocoa communities.
Like many locally owned restaurants, we are struggling with rapidly rising food, labor, utility, and operating costs.
Barbecue restaurants have been hit especially hard because of the increasing cost of meat. BB Rad’s Coastal BBQ, located only a few miles from us, closed this month, and many other independent restaurants are facing similar challenges.
We have worked hard to provide good food, generous portions, and fair prices. We added breakfast, introduced a salad bar, and began serving beer in an effort to offer more choices. Unfortunately, beer has received very little support, so we do not expect to continue offering it.
We have also advertised throughout the area, but it has not brought in enough additional business.
We are extremely grateful for the guests who regularly support us. Your kind words and excellent reviews mean more to our family and team than you may realize. We are proud to have one of the highest Google customer-satisfaction ratings among restaurants in Brevard County.
However, even with wonderful reviews, we need
more people coming through our doors for the restaurant to remain open. We are not asking anyone to spend beyond their means. We are simply asking that when your family is able to dine out, order takeout, or meet friends for a meal, you consider supporting My Island Smokehouse. Even an occasional visit can make a meaningful difference to a locally owned restaurant.
We also understand that people often share suggestions because they genuinely want to help, and we appreciate that concern. At this point, however, what will help us most is simply the opportunity to serve you.
This is not an easy message for our family to share, but we believe our community deserves honesty. Without increased support, we may not be able to continue operating this location.
We sincerely hope that, together, we can keep My Island Smokehouse open and serving Port St. John and Cocoa.
Thank you for reading, sharing our message, and supporting local businesses whenever you are able.
With sincere appreciation,
The Mardis Family
