It's not too late!! The peonies have just arrived and they will be available from 10 to noon tomorrow (Saturday)! Come by, learn from the masters at Demarzo Farms and have a cup of coffee, cocoa or c***r.
This weekend would be a great time to get them planted!

Before you start looking at the catalogs for Peony roots---did you know there is a family in the Valley that is, right now, growing 6000 plants??!! And getting ready to order more--i told them they need counseling...lol! We will be working with them later this year to have roots available... more details soon!

They really aren't 'Christmas Cactus'. When the light isn't manipulated, they can start blooming now...through the holidays. I call them Fall Cactus. And the best time to buy them is when they have barely budded.. moving from a greenhouse, to a retail store, to your house will often cause a lot of blossom drop. I like to purchase from my supplier after the holidays. I then transplant them into a clay or ceramic pot (not too big), and grow them all year so when the holidays come, they do their thing, all on their own.

Last week I was lucky to work (in Mom's Garden), with CSU Extension Master Gardeners Dana Brown and Sue Plane. I did a little teaching while we got some digging and planting done. And with Dana's kids, who weren't afraid to get their hands dirty-- so great to see!
I was able to dig them some Russian, May Night Salvia, Gaillardia and varying colors of yarrow. If you want the same kind of 'deal', give me a call 719-580-7838.
