Before & After — Epoxy Glue Remediation

This vehicle required extensive epoxy glue remediation, including the careful removal of cured epoxy from glass, painted surfaces, trim, plastics, and rubber seals.

Unfortunately, not every contamination issue can be corrected with detailing alone. Depending on the severity of the damage, proper remediation may require refinishing painted surfaces, replacing damaged trim or grilles, performing advanced paint correction, and completing vehicle diagnostics before and after repairs. This vehicle required all of that!

Anyone can call themselves a detailer, advertise paint correction and coatings or call themselves a paint correction specialist.

Anyone can say they were Airforce Delta Navy Rangers attached to the CIA as well, That doesn’t mean they understand automotive paint systems.

True paint correction requires more than a machine polisher. It requires understanding paint technology, evaluating each vehicle individually, and knowing how to safely achieve the desired results.

Before correction even begins, questions (customer and technician) should be asked:

• Do you have verifiable training

• Are you properly insured (liability, garage keepers etc)

• Is the finish OEM or has it been repainted?

• Is the clear coat hard or soft?

• How much paint is available to work with?

• What pad, compound, and polish combination is appropriate?

• What machine or combination of machines? What orbital throw, if any, will produce the safest, most effective correction?

• What level of correction is appropriate without unnecessarily removing clear coat?

• (maybe the most important) What does the customer actually want or need?

Every vehicle is different. Every panel can be different, preservation coatings are different.
