This particular advice makes me turn around and walk the opposite direction. It is also advice given by DIY Queens (mostly South Africans) and sadly not true.
These are both temporary solutions and can cause permanent damage too: Baking soda lowers PH, is can be great for your body but only mask the smell of urine, it isn't strong enough to break up the enzymes causing odour, and when not removed from the carpet properly, will cause a build up of substance in the carpet pile.
Vinegar is acidic and can cause permanent damage in carpets. If you happen to have any other cleaning material in the carpet that wasn't rinsed properly, the acid will react to it and you might have complications.
Using both together, with the desired effect of having it bubble the smell out? well, lets leave these experiments for building volcanos in dioramas instead of the carpet. It is not the answer to remove pet urine of any kind, neither cat or dog urine. A professional touch is needed for this in most cases to remove the urine from deeper within as it can be penetrated deep into padding and subfloors.

... I know, We all need life a little less complicated some days, that is why a "one size fit all" stain remover sounds like a dream come true. If only it did its job, I see so many permanent stains that needs carpet replacement because of hopeful households trying their best to remove unwated spills, if one brand doesnt work they try a different brand and so on. Matter of fact is, every item listed on the stain remover is a different stain type; w**e (tannin) blood (protein) chocolate sauce (this one have become complicated because of the many ingredients these days, but used to be protein first then tannin), pet urine (oh boy, completely different treatment)
you see what I mean?
Many people find success in a treatment because it just so happen to be a forgiving colour carpet or it worked for that particular spill, but many especially pet urine can be set and you are still not rid of the smell. Many treatment have a bleacing agent in and it changes the colour of the stain, then it is there with you untill the carpet is changed but lets look at the bright side, it can make for a great conversation starter.
If you need help I'm just a phone call away and I have first treatment spill advice on my website. This is where the home spot treatment machines comes in handy, by using its functions, not necessarily the treatments that accompanies it.

This was one of those classic couches that didn't look so dirty but what a difference a deep clean made 🤩

Disappointing but true. Professional machines have far more suction power and, of course (hopefully), a trained technician to tackle the problem areas that need attention.

That said, there is a place for spot cleaners. I actually encourage households to use them, because my aim is not to remove every spill in every home. Rather, I teach and advise people on how to tend to spills as soon as possible and, in doing so, keep their carpets looking new for as long as possible.

DIY machines, on the other hand, are definitely a waste of your valuable time. When you rent these machines, they come with cleaning products that are very sticky, leaving your carpets a magnet for dirt. You’ll also be exhausted from the effort, all while believing you saved money by doing it yourself.

This is a lead-up to the next myth, coming shortly.

I suppose every industry has a few facts that have been blown out of porportion, whether to boost sales or just because of new 'great ideas' that needs marketing.
I have come across a few of these and what a great start of the year to debunk some of these and set the record straight for those wanting to be educated.

Do you have any carpet, couch or stain questions you would like included or discussed?

Chocolate milk update🥤

Always check your stain type before applying any treatment.
Treat Proteins first and remember to NOT use HOT water for this.

This stain was treated with a numeric shelf bought agent that left it as in the first photo.

Personally I have not found a treatment that can remove every stain type as claimed ( blood, chocolate, urine, food spills etc), If you have, please share the details.

There is still a slight show of the lines in the carpet, but in general not visible to the unknown eye.

First response treatments determine the outcome of removal
