Rats do not need water when they have eaten rodenticide.
This is a myth.
They need water to survive.
Lots of plumbers seem to blame rodents for chewing through pipes because they have eaten rodenticide. This is not the case.

Firstly look at rodent proofing your property to keep them out.

There are more rodents around in New Zealand this autumn primarily due to a major beech mast event (seed fall) in the South Island following a hot summer, which has fueled an explosion in rat and mouse populations.
This natural boom, combined with colder autumn weather driving pests indoors, has led to a significant increase in sightings nationwide.
