Introducing WaterSense Ireland, represented by Aquatic Harvesting Ireland Ltd, the exclusive Irish and European partner for the innovative WaterSense.pl autonomous water quality monitoring technology.
Recent pollution incidents affecting Irish rivers, lakes, and drinking water catchments have highlighted the need for more effective, real-time environmental monitoring systems. Many of these events could have been detected earlier, allowing authorities to intervene before significant environmental damage occurred.
WaterSense has developed a new generation of AI-enabled autonomous water quality monitoring laboratories capable of providing continuous, real-time analysis of water quality parameters. Unlike traditional spot-sampling methods, WaterSense systems operate 24 hours a day, continuously monitoring waterways and immediately identifying changes that may indicate pollution events 72 hours in advance, agricultural run-off, wastewater discharges, sediment releases, or other environmental threats.
The technology has received international recognition, including the prestigious James Dyson Award, and is currently being deployed as part of an ambitious programme to establish a European-wide water quality monitoring network.
Aquatic Harvesting Ireland Ltd has extensive experience in river restoration, invasive species management, environmental monitoring, and waterway rehabilitation throughout Ireland. Through our partnership with WaterSense, we are seeking opportunities to demonstrate how this technology can support the objectives of the Environmental Protection Agency, Inland Fisheries Ireland, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, local authorities, water utilities, and other stakeholders responsible for protecting Ireland’s aquatic environment.
Key benefits of the WaterSense system include:
Continuous autonomous monitoring of water quality.
Real-time alerts when water quality deteriorates.
AI-assisted analysis and trend identification.
Early detection of pollution incidents.
Reduced reliance on costly manual sampling programmes.
Improved regulatory compliance and environmental protection.
Creation of long-term datasets to support river basin management and climate resilience planning.
As Ireland faces increasing challenges from agricultural pressures, urban development, wastewater management, and climate change, the need for proactive monitoring has never been greater. WaterSense offers a practical and proven solution that can significantly improve our ability to protect and manage Ireland’s valuable water resources.
Hybrid solar and optional hydro power system ensures continuous, maintenance-free operation year-round — no cables, no external infrastructure.
