Today, we are proud to share a special memorial we have created in honour of the founder of Maggs Day Centre, a person whose compassion and determination changed countless lives in and around Worcester.

Maggs Day Centre has been a vital part of the community for decades, offering support, dignity, and hope to people experiencing homelessness and hardship. What began as a small initiative rooted in kindness has grown into a lifeline for so many—providing hot meals, clean clothing, healthcare access, and a safe, welcoming space.

In their 40th year this memorial stands as a tribute not only to the founder’s vision, but to the enduring spirit of care that continues to guide the charity today. Their legacy lives on in every person helped, every life uplifted, and every act of kindness carried out within those walls.

We remember, we honour, and we continue their mission. 💙

Today was a very special one for Maggs, as we marked a moment 40 years in the making.

This morning, we gathered to mark the installation of a headstone for John Cecil Maggs, the man whose name our charity proudly carries.

The commemoration was a quiet and reflective occasion, bringing people together to honour John's life and acknowledge the legacy that continues in his name. It was a powerful reminder of why Maggs was founded, and why our work supporting people experiencing homelessness remains so important today.

For 4 decades, John lay in an unmarked grave in Worcester. Today, that changed.

This commemorative headstone was only possible thanks to the kindness, commitment and support of so many people. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life with such care and dignity.

Uttoexter memorial all restored and featuring brand new granite plaques completed by our impressive stonemasons who carefully removed the old stone plaques and re installed new granite ones all re engraved, with a full clean this now looks incredible

Project Start – Coming Next Week

Preserving our historic stonework and local heritage is something we’re incredibly passionate about, and it’s a privilege to play a part in ensuring this landmark can be enjoyed for many years to come.

Today’s site visit took us to the incredible Hartlebury Museum. It’s an amazing place full of history, and it brought back so many memories from the school trips I used to come on as a child.

It’s always a privilege to work on historic buildings and heritage sites, helping to preserve them for future generations while appreciating the craftsmanship of the past.
