🐀 Another Rat Problem Solved – After 5+ Years of Ongoing Issues!

We were recently called out to a property that had been suffering with persistent rat activity in the loft for over 5 years. Previous pest control companies had attempted repairs, but unfortunately the issue kept returning.

🔍 Our Investigation

After carrying out a full property inspection, we quickly found clear signs of ongoing activity in the loft including:• Rat droppings• Well-established rat runs• Evidence of previous repair attempts

All signs were pointing towards a drain-related entry point, so the next step was to carry out a drain survey.

📹 Drain Survey Findings

Inside the drains we discovered:• Cavity wall insulation beads inside the pipework
• A damaged section of pipe with clear chew marks
• A direct access point allowing rats to travel from the drains straight into the property

This explained why the problem had been ongoing for so long and no entry points could be found.

🛠 The Solution

Instead of costly excavation or major repairs, we installed a one-way rat flap inside the inspection chamber.

✔ Prevents rats entering from the drainage system
✔ Allows waste and water to flow normally
✔ A cost-effective long-term solution for the homeowner

We also tested the water flow after clearing the insulation and installing the flap — everything worked perfectly with toilet waste flowing freely while blocking rodent access.

Next Steps

A follow-up visit will be carried out to confirm:All rats have exited the property and no further activity remains in the loft

Another rat job from yesterday 🐀

The homeowner had started hearing scratching noises coming from the loft space, mainly at night.

After carrying out a full loft inspection we found:

• Rat droppings throughout the insulation
• Clear rat runs where they’ve been travelling through the loft
• A few possible entry points on the outside of the property

Rats will often follow the same routes through loft insulation which eventually creates these visible “runs”.

Treatment has now been put in place with snap traps and tracking dust to monitor movement and deal with the activity. Proofing work will be carried out on the next visit and the tracking dust will confirm if the rats are entering from neighbouring properties.

• Scratching or movement in the loft at night

• Pets staring at the ceiling or reacting to sounds

One of the ongoing rat jobs from this week in Wigan

There has been on and off rat activity for years at this property and previous pest control companies haven’t resolved the issue.

A full inspection of the property has been carried out and rat activity has been confirmed in the cavity walls and loft. No activity has been found outside and no entry points have been found around the property making it highly likely that the rats are entering through an issue with the drainage system or through a neighboring property.

Snap traps have been placed down along with tracking dust in the loft to confirm if there’s activity with the neighbouring property and a drain survey has been carried out to look into any drain faults.

Following the survey a one way rat flap has been installed within the inspection chamber on the driveway which will act as a solution to any drain access and a further visit will be carried out.

One of the Rat Infestations Jobs from today in Wigan

The customer contacted us after seeing rat activity in the garden area of her property. A full inspection of the property was carried out which confirmed there was ongoing rat activity in the garden with rats actively breeding in the shed.

5 dead pups were removed from a storage box in the shed and the nesting material will be removed. To permanently resolve the issue all possible food sources will be removed from the garden, snap traps have been placed and a drain survey will be carried out to rule out any drain defects. This method will directly solve the problem before the rats can continue to breed on the property and further damage could occur.

One of the Mice Infestations Jobs from today in Wigan

The customer contacted us after seeing a mouse in their kitchen and hearing unusual noise. A full internal and external inspection of the property was carried out which confirmed there was ongoing mice activity inside multiple areas of the property.

To resolve the issue, an entry point in the kitchen has been sealed using wire wool and expanding foam stopping any re-entry. Snap Traps have been placed to eliminate any mice still in the property and tracking dust has been put down which will confirm if there’s any further activity if the traps aren’t activated. 🐀 Rats or Mice Causing Problems? 🐭

This is from one of our jobs this morning dealing with rats that were in the kitchen and loft of a property in Orrell

After carrying out an internal and external inspection of the property we found an entry point under the decking into the property. The rats had created a run under the decking and burrowed down around the lintel of the property and gained access into the cavity walls ultimately giving them free reign of the property.
