We've been a little quiet on social media over the last few weeks.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and patience while we've been out visiting and looking after our clients' loved ones' resting places.

💚 The Sound of Home 💚 I LOVE MY VILLAGE ♥️

One of the things I love most about living in a village is the sense of belonging.

You can hear the church bells ringing across the village. It's one of those simple things that makes you stop for a moment and appreciate where you are. A reminder of community, tradition, and the people who make a place feel like home.

Those values are very much at the heart of With Care – Gentle Memorial Care.

We live in a world that often feels busy and rushed, but caring for a loved one's resting place shouldn't be. Every memorial tells a story. Every name represents a life that mattered and people who are still loved and remembered.

That's why With Care was built on simple values: kindness, respect, dignity, and taking the time to do things properly.

When people talk about grief, they often assume it gets easier with time.

In some ways it does. The sharpness softens, and life carries on around it.

But grief doesn't work to a timetable.

In 2019 my dad was diagnosed with cancer and, just four months later, he was gone.

One minute he seemed fit and healthy. The next, he was weak and frail. We weren't prepared. We didn't understand what was happening, and we certainly weren't ready to say goodbye.

Years later, grief still catches me in unexpected moments.

Sometimes I've cooked too much dinner and instinctively reach for an extra plate, thinking I'll take some round to Dad for his tea. Then, for a split second, I remember he's not here anymore.

It's a strange thing, grief. It doesn't mean you're stuck. It doesn't mean you haven't moved forward.

It simply means someone mattered.

Whether your loss was two weeks ago or twenty years ago, there is no right way to miss someone, and there is no deadline on love.

6 June 1944 – D-Day

Today, we pause to remember the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who took part in the D-Day landings 81 years ago.

Many were young men who left home not knowing what tomorrow would bring. Thousands never returned, giving their lives in the hope of securing peace and freedom for future generations.

As we care for memorials and places of remembrance, we are reminded that every name, every headstone, and every tribute tells a story that deserves to be honoured and remembered.

Today, we remember all those who served, those who fell, and the families who carried their loss.

Father's Day has always been bittersweet for me.

The little girl in this photograph is me, and the man holding me is my Dad.

In 2019, I lost him to cancer far more quickly than any of us expected. Like so many families, I know what it feels like to wish for just one more conversation, one more hug, or one more day.

Father's Day can be a time of celebration, but for many of us it is also a time of remembrance.

At With Care, every memorial visit is carried out with the same love, respect and dignity that I would want for my own Dad's resting place.

Today is Holy Trinity Sunday, and it feels especially fitting that we've spent part of the day caring for memorials in the churchyard of St Gabriel's Church.

St Gabriel's has always held a special place in my heart. It was the very first church I ever attended, the church connected to my primary school, and a familiar part of the estate where I grew up. Many happy memories began here, so it is always a privilege to return and help care for the resting places of loved ones within its beautiful grounds.

As I share a few photographs from today's visit, I'm reminded that churchyards are more than places of remembrance. They hold stories, family histories, community connections, and treasured memories that span generations.

On this Holy Trinity Sunday, we are grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in preserving these special places with the dignity, respect, and care they deserve.
