Truro BID Information on Truro BID's activities & businesses matters for those working in Truro City Centre. We first became operational in October 2007.

Truro Business Improvement District (BID) is a business led initiative which gives businesses the power to raise funds locally to be spent locally on improving a defined commercial area. Truro BID represents circa 380 Truro businesses and from 2007 to 2017 invested £3.4million into the City centre. We’re now in our fourth 5 year term, which runs until October 2027. We are independent from local au

thorities and other statutory agencies and deliver projects over and above the baseline service provided by them. Some of our work includes:

∙ Delivering and funding Truro’s annual City Centre Christmas Lights scheme (along with past donations from Lionel and Carol Knight).

∙ Enhancing the festive offer with street entertainment, large scale projections on buildings, traffic-free main shopping streets, markets, and supporting Coppice Theatre shows and Father Christmas grottos.

∙ Delivering the Truro Trend high-profile Catwalk at the Cathedral.

∙ Initiating and supporting one day markets; e.g. the Duchy Fair’s Cornwall Shop Small Markets and Truro Antiques and Collectables Markets.

∙ Joint-funding with Truro City Council the annual floral hanging baskets each spring.

∙ Working with Visit Truro to promote the city, including contributing financially to printed marketing activity (Truro Guides) and Visit Truro’s website.

∙ Representing the interests of businesses on plans for the Pydar Regeneration and Truro Town Fund investment plan.

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄!

We are looking forward to bring the Truro Classic Car Show to the city tomorrow, Sunday 2 August from 10:30am - 3:30pm.

It will be a rare chance to see the city filled with vintage vehicles.

There will be a fantastic display of cars and motorcycles from the early 20th century to the 2020s, including classic brands, such as Rover, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Austin, Rolls Royce, Volkswagen and many more!

Plus, live music, automobilia and autojumble stalls.

Entry is free, and Macmillan Cancer Support will be fundraising on the day.

Driving in? A special Park and Ride shuttle bus will run from Tregurra, by Waitrose, to the city centre, with tickets are available from the driver or via the Transport for Cornwall app. Please note: Langarth Park and Ride will be closed. City car parks will be open as usual.

On Saturday 1 August, from 11am–5:30pm, Celebration of Culture returns to Lemon Quay with a vibrant day filled with celebrating cultures and connecting with communities.

The event, organised by Black Voices Cornwall, is free to attend and everyone is welcome. See below for details!

Do let your customers know that Our Great Little Kids Club is returning to Truro. The event features an exciting programme of activities organised by Truro City Council in partnership with Visit Truro, Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery and Swamp Circus.

Running from Monday 3 - Friday 28 August, the programme is every weekday between 2pm – 3pm in the Bandstand at Victoria Gardens (except Tuesday sessions, which are at the Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery on River St).

The weekly programme is as follows:
Monday – Swamp Circus will host interactive circus skills sessions.
Tuesday – Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery - themed sessions on the Cornish Myths and Legends exhibition. (In the Museum's Learning Room on River St.)
Wednesday – Story time & crafts with Truro Community Library.
Thursday – Jules The Ventriloquist.
Friday – Discover wildlife in Truro's wild spaces with Truro’s Countryside Rangers.
All sessions are free and are designed for primary school aged children.

Truro Highcross Car Park is now operated by Q-Park.

Transitioning the car park tariffs from NCP to Q-Park will be completed by Thursday 13 August.

The NCP Colleague Saver ID Code, which enabled colleagues to receive up to 24 hours’ parking for £4.95 Monday to Saturday using the Saver ID code in the NCP ParkPass App will expire tomorrow Friday 31 July.

If you are a colleague working in Truro City Centre, we’ve been informed that there is a discount code to pre-book parking through the Q-Park website from Friday, 31st July onwards: https://www.q-park.co.uk/en-gb.

This code will provide parkers with a 58.75% discount on their pre-booked parking. Based on the current tariff, this reduces the rate to £4.95 per 24 hours. Email us at: [email protected] for the code.

Currently, to use the promocode parkers will need to pre-book via the q-park website for each parking session (and not via an app).

We've been informed that the High Cross Car Park will be available to pre-book on the Q-Park website from Friday 31 July, although don’t have a time or any further information from Q-Park.

From Saturday 1 August to Monday 31 August inclusive, children aged 5-15 can travel completely free on bus services across Cornwall as part of the Government's Great British Summer Savings initiative.

- Children under 5 already travel free all year round. Children under 11 must be accompanied by a fare-paying adult or an adult travelling with a valid concessionary bus pass.
- If you're 16–18, please continue to buy a child ticket when you travel.

A reminder that Truro businesses and organisations should continue to report all crime and anti-social behaviour through the correct channels.

Please report all crimes and incidents (including anti-social behaviour) to Devon and Cornwall Police, either:
- at the time via 999 or 101,
- or report via: https://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk or
- via the SentrySIS Crime Reporting Tool
If you report through SentrySIS, you do not need to call 101 as well.

Not reporting via the above methods reduces police crime data and weakens requests for additional police resources and security funding. Last weeks

Please note: contacting the Rangers, Truro BID or posting on social media doesn't replace reporting. Some recent incidents, including serious incidents involving persistent offenders, were reported only to the BID Team, the Rangers, and not the police. We have been advised that National Car Parks Limited (in administration) will cease operating Truro Highcross Car Park with effect from this Friday 31 July. The car park is now operated by Q-Park.

We have contacted both Q-Park and NCP to confirm if the High Cross Car Parking offer for Truro City Centre Colleagues will continue or not. Currently colleagues can get up to 24 hours’ parking for £4.95 Monday to Saturday using the Saver ID code in the NCP ParkPass App.

Visit Truro is inviting businesses to get involved this summer by sharing their seasonal offers, promotions, events and experiences so they can be promoted across Visit Truro's website and social media channels to showcase everything that Our Great Little City has to offer.

Whether you're offering a special summer menu, family activity, shopping promotion, live entertainment or a unique experience, Visit Truro would love to help encourage even more people to spend time in the city this summer and support our independents.

To submit your summer offer, please email [email protected] with the details and any supporting images, or message on Instagram or Facebook.

Recent examples include an Instagram Reel collaboration with Mannings, which received more than 21k views, with an additional reel created by Visit Truro achieving a combined total of 11k views across Visit Truro's social media channels.

Don't forget to encourage your customers to complete Visit Truro's 2026 Visitor Survey, which runs until the 23rd August 2026. The feedback will help shape future destination marketing activity and improve the visitor experience across the city. The survey can be found on the homepage of www.visittruro.org.uk (see 'Our Latest Ideas & Inspiration' blog post), or visitors can look out for posters across the city with a QR code.

We are delivering the Truro Classic Car Show on Sunday 2 August, from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Classic and vintage vehicles will be on show across the city.

The following road closures will keep the event pedestrian-friendly and help spread footfall across Truro:

• River St and Lemon St: from 4pm on Saturday 1 August – 6pm on Sunday 2 August.
• City centre road closures: 6am – 6pm on Sunday 2 August.

Saturday evening closures will be staffed by security to allow business access and prevent cars being left overnight in exhibition areas.

We have started visiting businesses in River St and Lemon St to inform them of these road closures.

As with last year, a special Park and Ride shuttle bus will run from Tregurra only (by Waitrose) to the city (Quay St) for the event, with tickets available via the Transport for Cornwall App or directly from the driver.

Buses will run every 15 minutes between Tregurra Park and Ride and Quay Street and the journey will take around six minutes. The service will start from Tregurra at 09:30 and the last bus from the city back to Tregurra will leave Quay Street at 16:30.

We are still seeking more vintage motorcycles to exhibit at the event, email [email protected], to showcase your motorbike at the event.
