It's been one of those weeks.

The heat has been relentless, and when you're physically grafting in it all day, your body eventually tells you to slow down. Sometimes you have to actually listen.

But we've been back at it today and cracked on. This week's been nonstop. The sunshine has a way of making everyone look at their house differently and the messages have been flying in.

Suddenly you can see the dust on the skirting boards, the streaks on the glass, and the film on the kitchen worktops that nobody noticed when it was grey outside. The sun doesn't lie. 😅

We've been flat out across Stockton, Ingleby Barwick and Wynyard this week, and we've got a few slots opening up over the next couple of weeks for deep cleans, oven cleans and regular weekly or fortnightly arrangements.

Happy bank holiday! ☀️

Hope you're all out enjoying this weather because it's been a long time coming.
If you're having people round today for a barbecue, drinks, and kids running riot, then enjoy every minute of it. The house will still be there tomorrow. And it'll probably look like a bomb's hit it by the time everyone's gone home.

As soon as the warmer weather hits and the back doors stay open, dirt travels differently.

Footprints through the kitchen floor. Dust is settling faster than usual. Pollen on windowsills, side tables, anywhere near an open window. Grass clippings are tracked through the house after the garden's been done. It doesn't take long for a home that felt clean a week ago to feel like it needs doing again.

It's one of those seasonal shifts that people don't expect to notice, but once you do, it's hard to ignore. Especially in lighter-coloured kitchens and bathrooms where everything shows more.

A regular fortnightly or weekly clean keeps on top of it without you having to think about it. And if the house has got away from you a bit over the last few weeks, a deep clean is a good way to reset before settling into a regular arrangement.

Nobody's house stays spotless between cleans. That's not the goal, and we'd never expect it.

The kids have trashed the living room by Tuesday. The kitchen looks like a crime scene by Wednesday teatime. The bathroom you could've sworn was clean on Monday somehow isn't by Thursday. That's just life, and it's completely normal.

Bathrooms tell you a lot about a clean.

Anyone can make a bathroom look tidy. A quick wipe of the sink, a spray of the mirror, toilet done. But limescale building up around taps, discolouration settling into grout lines, soap scum layering on shower glass, and moisture staining around sealant are where the difference between a surface-level wipe and a proper clean becomes obvious.

Most of it doesn't happen overnight. It builds slowly, and you stop noticing it because you see it every day. Then one day the light catches it differently, and it's suddenly everywhere.

We spend proper time in bathrooms because that's where effort shows most. Taps should look like taps. Grout should be one colour. Glass should be clear. That's the standard, whether it's a regular weekly clean or a full deep clean.

The kitchen is almost always the hardest-working room in the house.

Grease builds up around the hob and extractor fan. Crumbs settle into gaps you didn't know existed. The bin area, the handles, the kickboards, the gap between the cooker and the worktop... none of it gets attention until someone actually gets down and deals with it.

And it's not just about what you can see. Splashbacks develop a film that only becomes obvious once it's been properly cleaned off. Cupboard fronts near the hob get a tacky layer that attracts dust. Even the light switches and door frames around the kitchen get grimier than anywhere else in the house because of how much traffic that room gets.

The honest answer is it depends on the surface. There's no single miracle spray that works on everything, and using the wrong one can do more harm than good, especially on stone worktops, chrome fixtures, or coated finishes.

Limescale removers that work brilliantly on ceramic tiles will damage natural stone. All-purpose sprays leave residue on glass. Bleach-based products can discolour grout if used too frequently or left too long.

We match products to surfaces and adjust based on what each home actually needs. Whether it's a regular weekly clean, a deep clean, or an end of tenancy where every surface needs to be handed back in top condition. The approach changes depending on the property and what it requires. Getting it wrong doesn't just look bad, but over time it causes real damage.
