Good morning everyone.
We are now treating some very active wasp nests.
Not much bigger than a tennis ball, but already containing several hundred wasps.
Soon the queen can start producing hundreds of eggs a day.

Just a reminder it’s bee swarming time.
Bees swarm because they’re looking for a new home.
When a hive gets too crowded, the colony splits. The old queen leaves with a large group of worker bees to find a new place to live. They gather temporarily in a cluster (that’s the “swarm” you see) while scout bees search for a suitable new nesting spot.
We have a number of beekeepers we know who would love to re-home them for you.
If you are lucky enough to see a resting bee swarm, please phone us and we will try to arrange for a local beekeeper to take them away free of charge.

Like a child waiting for Christmas, the wasp guys are getting ready for wasp season.
Although a few queen wasps have already emerged from hibernation we don’t anticipate seeing any active nests for quite a while.
More importantly, we were informed by a beekeeper that he had collected his first bee swarm last week.
Ridiculously early for a bee swarm, so we suspect its food supply had run out and they moved on.
Luckily he was able to help them survive.
If you spot a bee swarm, THE WASP GUYS have the numbers for many local beekeepers who will happily collect and re-home free of charge.
NEVER have a resting swarm killed. They can easily be moved to a safe, secure hive.
Mason bees are also out in abundance. At least when the sun is shining.
There is no need to have these insects killed off.
They are relatively harmless, very placid and are usually only around for a couple of weeks as their breeding season is very short.
We have taken many calls this week mostly giving advice.
