An Akai tape deck in with its clutch in several pieces, it was no surprise that the part is no longer available but I was able to repair it by replacing the small fibre circlip with a larger diameter star clip to hold it all together…needs must and all that!

A lovely old Sharp music centre, I thought my luck was in, once the drive belt was changed, the turntable worked perfectly, as did the tuner, unfortunately it's a different story with the cassette deck, all the rubber bits needed cleaning or replacing, but there's one unobtainable component stopping it from working, the reel takeup pulley, a rubber cylinder that slips over the capstan spindle. I have a good idea how to get over this using a bit of ingenuity, so, parts on order and we'll see how it goes when they arrive!

Panasonic DVD / VCR recorder in for no sound. Traced to the 11.9 volt regulator. The only way to fault find on this is to remove the two panels, reconnect the dvd drive, turn it all upside down and be careful what you touch 😳
