What a fantastic three days it’s been!

Watching our students go from sketching their ideas to bringing them to life has been so rewarding. Many of the children had never used a sewing machine before, yet by the end of the workshop they had designed and created projects they could be truly proud of. Their creativity, confidence and determination have been amazing to watch. 💛

It was also so lovely to welcome back some returning students. Seeing familiar faces return to The SewCiety School is one of the biggest compliments I could receive, and I’m so grateful to all the families who continue to support us.

A huge thank you to Leanna’s Wish for partnering with us to help make these workshops possible.

✨ Day 1 of our Summer Fashion Workshops! ✨

What a fantastic start to the week! Today our students have been sketching their own designs, creating patterns, cutting fabric and beginning to sew their garments from scratch. 🧵✂️

One of my favourite parts is watching each student’s ideas evolve—from their first sketches, to choosing fabrics, to seeing those ideas gradually come to life. Honestly, they inspire me just as much as I hope I inspire them.

It’s also amazing to see how many students arrive feeling nervous about using a sewing machine, only to realise by the end of the day that they really can do it. Watching that confidence build is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

✨ Day 1 of our Summer Fashion Workshops! ✨

What a fantastic start to the week! Today our students have been sketching their own designs, creating patterns, cutting fabric and beginning to sew their garments from scratch. 🧵✂️

We’ve had such a brilliant week watching our students learn new sewing skills, build confidence and create projects they’re truly proud of. From pattern cutting and garment construction to skirts, shorts and tote bags, it’s been wonderful to see everyone’s creativity come to life! 💛

Tomorrow marks the start of our Summer Sewing Workshops in partnership with Leeanna’s Wish, and we’re so excited to welcome everyone.

There are still a few spaces available if you’d like to join us this summer:

There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a student’s confidence grow as their ideas come to life.

At SewCiety School, students learn real sewing and garment-making skills—from using a sewing machine and working with patterns to creating their very own handmade projects. Watching them gain confidence with every stitch is what it’s all about.

This summer, we’re proud to be partnering with Leeanna’s Wish to deliver our 3-Day Summer Sewing Workshops, giving young people the opportunity to learn new skills in a fun, creative and supportive environment.

✨ “What does my child actually make at SewCiety?” ✂️

It’s one of the questions I get asked the most, so I thought I’d show you!

Over the years, I’ve developed a growing collection of hand-drafted sewing patterns that students can use as a starting point. Some love following a pattern exactly, while others enjoy adapting it to create something completely unique. We also encourage fashion rework, where students can transform clothes they already own into something new.

More importantly, they learn real sewing and dressmaking skills, build confidence, solve problems creatively and leave with something they’ve made themselves.

🧵 Summer Holiday Workshops are running now, with a few spaces still available.

📅 Weekly classes return in September 2026, and adult workshops are coming soon too!

If you have a child or teenager who loves fashion, enjoys being creative, or simply wants to learn a new skill, I’d love to welcome them to SewCiety.

This is Sarah.

Sarah has been sewing with me since she was 7 years old, and now at just 9 years old she is confidently creating garments she can actually wear.

These linen trousers were made to match a halter neck top she previously created, and seeing her confidence grow with every project has been incredible.

One of the things I always encourage my students to do is think for themselves creatively. Sarah chooses her own projects, develops her own ideas and is gradually building a wardrobe of pieces she has made herself.

There is something very special about seeing a child realise that they can create something from scratch with their own hands.

She already has more ideas planned, and I can’t wait to see what she creates next.

✨ Exciting News! ✨

I’m delighted to announce that SewCiety School has partnered with Leanna’s Wish to offer a series of creative summer sewing and fashion workshops in St Albans.

These 3-day workshops give children and teenagers the opportunity to learn sewing and fashion design skills whilst creating garments, accessories and projects they can be proud of.

Students will:
✂️ Learn sewing machine skills
🎨 Develop their own ideas and designs
📝 Sketch and plan projects
🧵 Create a finished garment or accessory to take home
🌟 Build confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills

Whether your child loves fashion, enjoys being creative, or simply wants to learn a new skill this summer, we’d love to welcome them.

Week 4 with some of my SewCiety students ✂️🖤

It’s honestly been amazing watching their confidence and sewing skills grow week by week. Students are now confidently constructing garment pieces, understanding seam allowances, pinning, hemming, sleeve insertion, interfacing, and even learning how to understand sewing patterns properly ☀️

What I love most is that students also document everything they learn throughout the course, so they can continue building on these skills during their own sewing journeys.

And honestly… some of these are things many adults don’t even know 😭 Yet students from ages 6–18 are learning and applying these skills so confidently.
