At JR&Co, we’re committed to supporting the communities we work in. That’s why our team regularly volunteers with The Felix Project, helping to rescue good food that would otherwise go to waste and get it to people who need it most.
Last week, we swapped our usual shift at Poplar for a day at the food factory in Deptford. Instead of working in the kitchen or warehouse, we helped prepare surplus ingredients for a new life as juices, jams, chutneys and sauces.
Together, Constanza, Grace, Laura, Lauren, Lindy, Moxada and Olivia repacked more than 120kg of pasta, chopped onions, garlic, carrots, ginger and chillies, and juiced oranges ready for use in community kitchens and other food projects across London.
Every ingredient saved is a step towards reducing food waste and supporting local communities.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy. When people give something their undivided attention, they can make a real difference.
