Yesterday, Lauren Hanley, Business Support Services Director, and Vania Borges, Quality, Sustainability & Environment Manager, represented JR&Co at the European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards at Pueblo Español in Palma de Mallorca.

We were delighted to be finalists in the Sustainability category! Being recognised on a European stage is something to celebrate and a proud moment for everyone at JR&Co who helps put our sustainability commitments into practice every day.

While we didn’t take home the award this time, there was plenty to enjoy: a wonderful venue, familiar industry friends and new connections with colleagues from the UK and across Europe. We’re grateful to have been part of such a special evening.

Following a recent Health & Safety risk assessment across one of our client’s sites, the assessors commented on how clean and tidy the locations were, prompting some fantastic feedback for our teams:

A brilliant recognition of the people who make those standards possible every day. From our cleaning operatives on site to the teams supporting them, it’s that consistent undivided attention and pride in the job that makes the difference.

Our sustainability plan contributes to nine of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, connecting our priorities and actions with wider social and environmental ambitions.

From reducing our environmental impact and supporting more sustainable ways of working, to investing in our people and contributing to the communities around us, the SDGs help provide a wider framework for the progress we want to make as a business.

This SDG Flag Day, our team came together to raise the flag as a reminder that meaningful progress is built through continued action, collaboration and a commitment to doing things better.

The Trailblazers programme recognises businesses that are helping to redefine industry standards through innovation, responsible growth and positive change, so it means a great deal to see JR&Co included among this year’s selected organisations.

For us, that means continuing to raise standards in our industry, finding better ways to support our people and clients, and growing responsibly without losing sight of what matters.

From investing in our teams and embracing new ideas, to strengthening our approach to sustainability and service delivery, we’re always looking at how we can do things better and create a positive impact along the way.

It’s fantastic to see that work recognised and to be included alongside businesses that are challenging expectations and helping shape what comes next.

Last week was Recycle Week ♻️, and our Head Office team marked it with recycling-themed games. It turned out to be a fun (and very competitive!) reminder of how much small choices at the bin matter.
 
Recycle Week is a good excuse to stop and check what we actually know, because the effort we put into getting it right really does add up. At Head Office:
 
♻️ Our recycling rate rose to 68.7% in 2025, up from 62% the year before
🗂️ We now separate waste into 12 streams, including new paper towel recycling
🚫 We’ve sent zero waste to landfill for the third year running
 
We’re not at our 70% target yet, so there’s still work to do, and that’s exactly why moments like this matter.

A lovely piece of client feedback has led to another well-deserved JR&Co Stars nomination.
 
During a recent visit to one of our education sites in Kensington, Norbert Rave, Divisional Director, received some particularly positive feedback about Monica and the excellent cleaning service she continues to provide.
 
It’s always rewarding when the work our colleagues do every day is noticed directly by our clients. Consistency, care and pride in the job make a real difference to the spaces we look after and to the people who use them.
 
Following the visit, Norbert nominated Monica for a JR&Co Star Award in recognition of the high standard of service she continues to deliver.
 
A big congratulations to Monika, and thank you for everything you do. ⭐

The JR&Co team returned to Little Mill Farm in Kent yesterday to spend the day apple picking for Felix.

It’s our third year taking part, helping to collect fruit that might otherwise be left on the trees so it can be redistributed through Felix’s food network across London.

It’s become a day we really look forward to each year. A chance to step away from our usual routines, spend time together and contribute to something with a very real impact, reducing food waste while supporting communities.

A big thank you to Felix and the team at Little Mill Farm for having us back, and a special shout-out to our JR&Co volunteers who gave their time and helped make the day count. 🍏🍎

With colleagues from so many different backgrounds and cultures, celebrating the traditions and occasions that matter to our people is a lovely reminder of what makes our team special. We may have different traditions, experiences and perspectives, but those differences bring new ideas, strengthen our connections and make JR&Co a richer and more inclusive place to work.

This week, our team came together in the office to mark Brazilian Independence Day, celebrated on 7 September.

There was plenty of Brazilian food to enjoy, including coxinhas, pão de queijo and guaraná, alongside homemade Brazilian chocolate and coconut treats made by Vivian and Luiza.

It was a great opportunity to share a little of Brazilian culture with colleagues, learn more about each other and celebrate the diversity of the people who make up JR&Co.

We were clearly too busy enjoying ourselves to remember to take many photos, so these are just a small glimpse of the celebrations! 😄

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, and especially to Vivian and Luiza for the homemade treats.
