House Maintenance

I've come across a few houses when painting them lately that have had damp issues, when I've looked into the cause of the damp, the cause in a lot of cases was fully gutters leaking out onto the wall below.

Well worth making sure gutters are cleared out and possibly a good coat of water seal on the outside bricks to prevent it happening

Dirty Carpets

An awful lot of the carpets have got dirt and worn from shoes not being taken off before walking inside.

The damage caused by not taking shoes off is considerable, especially in the winter when shoes tend to be dirtier.

Just a thought for those who may forget sometimes

Vehicle Checks

The van I use for painting and carpet cleaning is checked every two weeks, fluids, tyre pressure and treads.

On today check I found a snail stuck to the inside of the bonnet.

Worth checking your vehicles every so often as I don't think a snail dropping into the engine would be good.

Goodness knows how a snail actually got in there either.

Just a reminder to everyone to check you know how to turn your water off in an emergency either in the house using the stop tap or directly at the meter, usually outside.
I've been two quotes this week, one to clean a water damaged carpet and one to redecorate after water damage to ceilings and walls.
On both occasions had they been a able to get the water off quickly the damage would have been much much less and less inconvenient to clean up and put right.
