Love these ones. Always satisfying!

We'll quite often be asked to help clients to get back on their feet. Lots of the times when we're approached, it's to help people who've let things get to a point they need the help. Other times it's hoarders/collectors. It's exhausting work, as its not just physical work, but also mentally taxing as you negotiate with the client what to salvage and what to dispose of.

Remit for this one was to clean the obvious rubbish, then tidy and clean what was left.

We do our best to engage and work along with the tenant and their energy levels, which meant dealing with the carpets became a bit much for the client, so we had to leave it as pictured. But a couple of days later, we returned to remove them ready for new ones to be fitted.

Another fire!

Upstairs flat in Tain caught alight (apparently a candle was the cause)

Not only was the flat completely gutted, but the flat below was flooded due to the fire brigade doing their job. Also the neighbouring flats were affected by smoke damage.

Remit was to safely empty both the fire damaged property and the other affected flat below. Gut the 2 fire and flood properties of the ceilings, walls and wood floor right back to bare shell. Also to remove all the loft insulation from all the affected properties (we hate that bit, especially when it's fire damage!) and to clean the adjacent affected properties.

All in, 10 days work. Very messy, very grubby!

Once that's all done, another company was booked to enter and media blast (like shot blasting) the loft space area to remove all soot/charring, and then the refit begins. Hopefully be back to new again in a few months.

Unusual one this week!

3 storie block of flat, 9 flats in total.

Tenant had an episode, and decided to pour 2x gallon drums of paint over the entire communal area. This was almost 3 months ago, so the paint was walked throughout the whole stairwell by tenants coming and going.

The full clean up was incredibly messy, rehydrating the paint, and lifting it. All this whilst dealing with the tenants coming and going, not understanding the guidance they were given to avoid spreading it further! But we achieved success, and not a drop of contamination in the van afterwards!

Bit of an unusual one this one, as we don't usually take on gardening works!

We've worked for a particular company for about 20 years, originally conducting evictions on mortgaged properties. We would attend with a sheriff's officer who would carry out the paperwork, while we catered for the lock change, electric shutdown, water drain down, and prep for selling.

We chose to pull out of the that side of things after 2 years of continuous work often conducting 2 or a week, due to seeing the devastating consequences of losing a home. But we carried on working for the company, catering for their properties that needed extra attention before selling on. Either they were repossessed mid-renovation (so plenty of builders waste, rubbish and overgrown gardens), or incredibly messy houses.

This particular one was both...both a mess, a renovation project, as well as having an incredibly overgrown garden with a 6 foot tall mass of brambles that had taken over the entire space.

The property was cleared, cleaned, and the garden stripped right back to allow potential buyers to see what they were buying.

Sorry we haven't posted in a while...we've been busy!

Since the beginning of last year, the upper end of our work, the really heavy clearances, the major `high dirt' cleans and the bio-hazard work, has really taken over the day to day basic cleans (end of tenancy etc). In fact, so much so that, when people ask me what's the worst job we've done recently, I just don't know, because they're all merging together and they all seem to be as bad as each other!

We've also joined in with a local housing association in their efforts to assist their tenants who've had issues in controlling a liveable condition in their property. We've assisted a number of tenant/clients to sort their home, whether they've had hoarding issues, incapacity or mental health issues, or have literally been incapable of sorting their issues themselves.

These jobs are exhausting, because you're not only dealing with the physical work, but also the mental side of things, often diplomatically negotiating with hoarders, chatting away to people with mental health issues to carefully motivate them, or training them to plan their cleaning/tidying routines. but they're the most satisfying jobs that we do, often getting heartfelt appreciation from the client!

We don't judge, we're just there to help. The phrase "we don't look at what we're coming into, we're seeing what we can come out of" is often mentioned to alleviate a clients anxieties. We can usually see what we can achieve from the outset, and love working along with the client to achieve this

So we started the business 25 years ago, and initially built up a large window cleaning round of over 500 customers in north ross-shire/sutherland.

Whilst building the window cleaning round, the owner moved from a rented property to a new home he'd bought round the corner. Upon final inspection before leaving, the housing officer (Albyn housing) asked what we did, and asked if we cleaned houses. In need of the work we said yes!

One thing has lead to another, the window cleaning round was split multiple times during it's growth, and divided up to other local guys who needed work. The property cleaning side of the business soon took over and we're where we are today, still doing commercial windows on occasion.

To think where we've come from, to where we are today is a big journey! We're pretty much 80-90% of the time doing the extreme jobs you see in the post. Working for multiple offices of the Highland council, Albyn Housing, social Services throughout the highlands helping their clients, as well as many estate/letting agents and private owners.

We get a huge amount of satisfaction from the work we do, especially when we work along with clients needing help.

Bit of an interesting day today...
Asked to clear a property after it was abandoned by the tenant.

One of our lads pulled the washing machine out from underneath the worktop to discover this chap sitting on top 🫣. Got the fright of his life!!!

None of us do 'nope ropes', and we had no idea if the snake was venomous, so decided to call the SSPCA, who were amazing with a 20 minute response time! Well done SSPCA !

By the time they arrived, the snake had disappeared under the kitchen units and made its way up the back of the corner unit. Had to dismantle the worktops to reach and retrieve him.

All in, a satisfying end. We often say "we've seen pretty much everything", but usually when we say it, something new pops up.

Can anyone identify our unexpected guest?

Something different today!

Inverness gets its first official Krispy Kreme store. Officially opening tomorrow (Friday 18th, 2024)

Windows were filthy, so needed a deep clean inside and out, leaving them super shiny, and a detail of the public area.

Nice mornings work for 2 of our techs, but sadly no doughnuts as they weren't in production yet. But lattes were on tap to stay warm in the snow!

Complete stripout back to studs of 3 bed mid terraced local housing authority property.

Tenants had deliberately cut the water pipes and flooded the property before abandoning the tenancy and moving away. They left around December and the problem wasn't found until 6-8 months later, leaving the property in a serious condition with plasterboard completely saturated throughout.

Clearance of all abandoned items from previous tenant
All plasterboard removed from walls and ceilings (8 tonnes)
Bathroom and kitchen removed
Clean up of wooden floor boards (salvageable)
Removal of all loft insulation
Full de-nailing/screwing of studwork

Once completed, the property is put on a diet of dehumidification, mould control and odour control. The property was handed back ready for reinstatement of all the walls and ceilings and bringing back to a habitable property.

One of the challenges of this property was it's location, in a pedestrianised area of a housing estate, meaning approximately 100 metres of walking to get to the trailer for disposal, all 8 tonnes of it!

Another one!

Prepping a property for resale. Full clearance with approximately 3500-4000 empty wine bottles, and 5 tonnes of rubbish removed. Full clean and sanitising/deodorising.

Not an easy one with the property being on the second floor with windy staircase, and with the way the heat has been recently, extra bottles of water loaded in the fridge (yes we have a fridge in the van!)
