This is the upstairs of a carer’s home. 🖤
The son was supposed to be looking after his elderly parent. What we didn’t know until we got there — he was fighting his own battles. Mental health. Alcohol. He simply couldn’t cope. And because he couldn’t cope, his elderly parent was living in conditions no human being should ever have to endure.
The downstairs living arrangements had been severely neglected. The bathroom. The toilet. The sink. Surfaces that hadn’t been touched in years. A home that had become a crisis — quietly, behind closed doors, with nobody stepping in.
This is exactly why we exist.
We don’t just clean. We restore dignity. We walk into the situations that social services flag, that families are too overwhelmed to face, that landlords don’t know how to handle. We do it without judgement — for the person who couldn’t cope just as much as for the person who was let down.
Mental health affects cleaning. Neglect is real. And the people living in these conditions are not dirty people — they are people who needed help and didn’t get it in time.
We got in, we got it done, and we gave that home back.
If you know someone living in conditions like this — a vulnerable adult, an elderly person, someone struggling — please reach out. To us, to social services, to anyone. Nobody should live like this. 💛
