Day 2 complete on this original pine floor restoration project in Leamington Spa.

Our customer is carefully restoring this character property room by room, preserving original features one space at a time. It’s always a pleasure to work on projects where the aim is restoration rather than replacement.

Today’s work focused on the final stages of sanding and refinishing this original pine entrance floor. Before moving onto the finishing process.

We finished the sanding process with a 120-grit pass across the floor to create a refined, even surface. The timber was then water-popped, a technique used to raise the grain and open the wood fibres, helping the finishing oil pe*****te more deeply and evenly throughout the floor.

To complete the restoration, we applied Arboritec Natural 2K Solid Oil. This high-performance finish enhances the natural colour and grain of the pine while providing a durable, hard-wearing surface suitable for a busy entrance area.

Some projects are memorable because of the transformation. Others because of the building itself. Our recent wood floor restoration project at Blyth Hall in North Warwickshire was both πŸ’š

Blyth Hall is a stunning Grade I listed country manor house with a history spanning hundreds of years and today welcomes guests for weddings, corporate retreats and luxury countryside escapes.

When we arrived, two very different timber floors required restoration.

The first had endured years of heavy foot traffic, leaving scratches, black marks and general wear that masked the natural beauty of the timber beneath.

The second presented a completely different challenge, with the floorboards having been painted white at some point in their history.

Using our Bona sanding system and Bona DCS 70 H-Class dust extraction unit, we carefully removed the existing coatings and prepared both floors for finishing. The advanced dust containment system captures dust at source, helping to create a cleaner working environment throughout the project.

As a Bona Certified Contractor, Chris was joined on site by Charles from Bona Professional UK, who helped achieve this stunning transformation.

Both floors were then finished with:
βœ”οΈ Bona UX Primer
βœ”οΈ 3 coats of Bona Traffic Matt Lacquer

This commercial-grade system provides exceptional durability whilst maintaining the natural appearance of the timber, making it ideal for a prestigious venue that welcomes guests throughout the year.

Projects like this remind us that restoration is about more than appearance. It's about preserving craftsmanship, protecting heritage and ensuring historic floors can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Two floors, one complete refresh.

The porcelain and ceramic tiled floors had gradually lost their freshness due to everyday use, with dirt becoming trapped within the grout lines and surface texture of the tiles. Despite regular cleaning, the floors were becoming increasingly difficult to keep looking their best.

Using our professional tile and grout cleaning system, we carried out a deep clean of both floors and grout lines before fully neutralising the surfaces to remove any remaining residues. The result was cleaner grout, brighter tiles, and a much fresher feel throughout the home.

Our restoration process included:

βœ… Professional deep cleaning of porcelain and ceramic tiles
βœ… Intensive grout line cleaning
βœ… Removal of ingrained dirt and contaminants
βœ… Neutralisation of the floor to remove cleaning residues
βœ… Restored natural appearance and colour consistency
βœ… Improved hygiene and easier ongoing maintenance

From rough sanding marks and heavy side cuts… to this…

After a lot of detailed corrective sanding and edging work, this wood floor in Atherstone has been completely transformed!

With the difficult preparation stages finally behind us, we were able to fully refine the floor and bring the surface back to a smooth, even finish before applying Floorservice Hardwax Oil 2K in the Jalisco 868 shade.

The rich brown tone has added so much warmth and character to the room while still keeping the natural grain of the timber visible throughout!

Definitely one of those projects where the finishing stages make all the hard work worthwhile πŸ’š

Most people only notice the finished floor… but the preparation is what makes a restoration last πŸ‘€

This oak hallway restoration in Corley Moor started with sourcing and replacing the skirting boards before starting the floor.

The solid oak floor was then professionally sanded back to bare wood, water popped to open the grain and enhance the natural character of the oak, before being finished with Arboritec Solid White Oil for a durable, hard-wearing finish with a natural look and feel.

Once the hallway floor was complete, the new skirting boards were finished with Arboritec Solid Natural Oil to complement the restored oak perfectly ✨

We’re definitely seeing more interest in worktop restoration recently, with many customers choosing to restore their existing surfaces rather than go through the cost and disruption of replacing them altogether.

In many cases, surfaces like Corian can be professionally revived, with scratches removed and the surface polished to tackle the dull appearance that naturally develops over time through everyday wear and use.

For this restoration, we used the Bonastre system, working through the 1, 2 and 3 pad system to refine the surface, remove the scratching and restore a much cleaner, smoother finish. The difference in light reflection between the before and after images really shows how much the surface has been revived.

Pine floorboard restoration completed in Long Eaton ✨

This original pine floor had seen years of wear, old coatings, gaps between boards and an uneven finish. Using our professional dust-controlled sanding system, we carefully sanded the floor through multiple grit stages to flatten, smooth and fully refine the timber while removing the old finish.

To help define each individual plank while still allowing the natural movement of the wood, the gaps were filled using Bona black flexible mastic creating a clean, traditional look that really suits pine floorboards.

Once fully prepared, the floor was primed and finished with a durable Saicos lacquer, enhancing the natural warmth and character of the pine while providing long-lasting everyday protection.

Customer feedback like this always means a lot to us ❀️

β€œI also wanted to say a massive thank you. I love my floor and I can’t wait to get the next lot of tiles cleaned up. Chris is extremely professional and polite. He even won the grumpy dog around!”
