Chesneys repair 🛠️

How are your firebricks? Those beige bricks play an important task in keeping your stove body protected from the heat when it's in operation 🦸

Now we all know they need replacing when they have large cracks, big bits missing or worn down from their original thickness but what about this situation? The glue bonding has failed and the bricks are disintegrating blocking the air intake!

These stoves rely on the air passing up the back of the rear bricks and through the dedicated holes so very little air would be getting through all that debris!

Luckily I had spare new rear ones on the van that could be fitted after I had showed the customer the issue but the other bricks were all fine so it's back perfect for the autumn along with a spotless chimney 👌

As we move towards the heating season, I try to carry most common parts on the van to stop stove downtime or I can get parts ordered in fast for repair 🚐 💨

Wow! Check out both these clips captured from a property today 😬

The customer was experiencing smoke smells in the loft area when the fire was lit so wanted to see if some investigating could uncover the problem.

Here on my camera I found not 1 but 2 of the 4 dividing flue walls missing significant brickwork!! and old birds nest stuck in one of the exposed bedroom flues.. Disaster waiting to happen!!

The second video shows smoke passing through from the fireplace behind the one I was working on when a smoke pellet was lit in it!!

Sometimes sending a brush through a chimney is not enough. If you want it inspected thoroughly then cameras and smoke pellets must be used.

Up early over in Horsham this morning to sort out some bird protection for a customer after a pigeon recently came down the chimney! 🦉❌

A Stainless steel guard for the working fire and a cap for the disused bedroom flue

Open chimneys allow wildlife to enter and rain directly down the flue which can cause deterioration. If you need a cowl supplied and fitted, feel free to get in contact

It might be hot out there but trying to hide in a cool chimney didn't really work out too well for this pigeon!

The customer was nervous as there were cream carpets at stake and soot was falling everytime it moved but a nice successful removal for this bird without injury or a speck of soot anywhere .. just an embarrassed fly away back to its friends with a tale to tell 😏

There was a lot of soot in this flue as it had not been done for a few years so a nice thorough sweep after 👌

May round up.. What a month! Apologies for any delays in getting back to customers the last few weeks, I was busy getting.. Married 🎉😊

Then spent a couple of weeks in South Devon soaking up the sun 🌅

Back to work now though .. From dolphin spotting, cream teas and beach beers to Sweeping, servicing and bird rescues my first few days back 🤣

I'm catching up on emails and messages so if you left one, I'll be in contact soon

Right.. Who needs a chimney sweep.. I've got a wedding that needs paying back 🤣

Crisp & Co has gone international baby! ✌️🇫🇷

Just completed this extensive door refurb for a customer who had brought his stove door back from France after the glass fell out and smashed due to rotten glass clips!

After phoning many places who couldn't help without serial numbers, he ended up finding me.. So let's get this sorted 😎

A quick trip to the blacksmiths to get the remains of the old screws out and a phone call to order the new parts and I was set..

Rub down and respray of both sides, new glass and seal, glass clamps and screws and a new main door seal and the door is looking like brand new ✨

The face when the customer saw the door was quite the picture 😂 they couldn't believe it. I also supplied them another full can of stove paint so they can give the stove body a quick refresh when back in france
