Crisp & Co has gone international baby! ✌️🇫🇷

Just completed this extensive door refurb for a customer who had brought his stove door back from France after the glass fell out and smashed due to rotten glass clips!

After phoning many places who couldn't help without serial numbers, he ended up finding me.. So let's get this sorted 😎

A quick trip to the blacksmiths to get the remains of the old screws out and a phone call to order the new parts and I was set..

Rub down and respray of both sides, new glass and seal, glass clamps and screws and a new main door seal and the door is looking like brand new ✨

The face when the customer saw the door was quite the picture 😂 they couldn't believe it. I also supplied them another full can of stove paint so they can give the stove body a quick refresh when back in france

Lovely day to be up on a roof sorting out a chimney top 😎

With the recent high winds, this customer found an old oil boiler chimney cowl decided to leave the chimney top along with its base plate. These were actually asbestos and luckily only took out a couple of tiles when they came off so now it's time to do it properly.

Once up there I installed a new Chimney pot, stainless guard and carried out a full reflaunch of the stack using a sharp sand / cement mix meaning this ones going nowhere 👌

Popped out to this lovely old property in High Street yesterday to complete a bespoke chimney cowl fit.

The customer recently had a bird fall down the flue which highlighted the chimney had no cover.

Square pots are tricky as come in many sizes so am initial roof inspection to measure the pot was carried out on the first visit and a mm perfect bespoke cowl was made for the job... If you know me.. You know this made me very happy when I came to fit and it was absolutely spot on 😅

Second visit to sweep and install the cowl and also got the chance to check out those hidden views up there.. Perks of the job 😎

Lovely day to be on the roof swapping over an old corroded chimney cowl for a stainless steel version 🌸🌷🌞

Recently came across this aga wenlock needing a few repairs during its sweeping appointment.. Friday the 13th seemed like the perfect day to sort it.. What superstition.. Wish me luck 😅

When I stripped the stove down last month for the sweep, I found the rear blanking plate had split and fallen away and I also found the stove collar was cracked and both securing bolts had rotten through meaning it could be moved off the stove and potentially leak carbon monoxide!

New genuine parts sourced and let the rebuild commence! 😎 Old bolts drilled out and new collar re-secured and a re-designed blanking plate fitted so its safe again for my customer with just the advice to trim back the skirting board to the hearth edge.

Rain rain rain ☔😒

Went up and replaced a customers incorrect cowl for them that I advised a few weeks ago.. Annnnd regretted it as the heavens opened up while I was up there .. Soaked! 😅

Nesting season is just around the corner and after removing an old small nest on my last visit, looks like they were keen to go again!!

Flaunching covered in moss had started to deteriorate so I will be back in the summer to replace this.

The bonnet cowl that I removed is unsuitable for ANY working fire so my customer will now enjoy a nice working fire without any blowback with the new stainless steel upgrade fitted 👌

Remember from march to september, any nesting birds must be left undisturbed so if you had a nest removed last year and are thinking of a cowl or just want to prevent a future nest on an open flue .. Now's the time 🐦
