During this particular riddance programme, 🐀 ‼️

external rat activity was identified at the client’s premises. A full root cause analysis confirmed that the activity was originating from a neighbouring source, outside of our control, due to multiple contributing factors.

To manage the risk, external monitoring points were installed around the client’s property to help control passing rodent traffic and reduce further impact.
Early identification of environmental risk factors is essential, as it allows informed decisions to be made regarding the most appropriate control measures.

At the follow-up inspection, field mice were captured despite the presence of established rat activity. This clearly demonstrates the importance of adhering to CRRU regulations and maintaining full compliance when implementing control strategies.

Attended site to carry out the safe removal of a redundant House Martin nest in accordance with relevant wildlife and health & safety guidelines.

Following removal, a thorough inspection of the roof area was undertaken, and all identified access and potential entry points were securely sealed to prevent future bird ingress.

House martins migrate to Africa for the winter months, making January a safe time to remove nests as they will not be occupied.

We have also recommend to our client that spikes are fitted to the underside of the soffit to help prevent future bird activity. House Martins are very loyal to their nesting sites and will return each year to use the same nest.

This modification provides a more secure and controlled tethering point, helping to maintain correct trap positioning and reducing the risk of movement or displacement in confined or uneven loft environments.

The addition of O-rings improves consistency during installation, enhances operational reliability, and supports safer access for both inspection and servicing. This approach also helps protect surrounding services and substrates by ensuring tethers remain properly tensioned and correctly aligned.

This improvement was suggested by one of our field technicians and has proven to be a highly effective refinement to our existing control methods. It highlights the value of technical feedback from site-based experience and our ongoing commitment to improving standards and best practice.

Our team attended a residential property this morning following a call-out for internal mouse activity. While the children were opening their presents, some uninvited guests decided to join the celebrations.

Following a full inspection, the root cause was identified and a thorough assessment was completed. Temporary control measures were installed across all high-risk areas to help manage the immediate rodent activity, with further recommendations provided to the client.
