Hi folks, just letting you all know I simply can't take on anymore jobs right now (local or not).

With the nice weather currently I've had a lot of enquiries about "wasps" which are mainly bee issues at this time of the year. There seems to be a lot of confusion around bee populations in the UK about what's legal and what's not with regards to removal. So thought I'd post some information.

🐝Bees in the UK are NOT protected by any legislation.

🐝If you've got a honey bee swarm or hive you can call a bee keeper for advice/removal or I will be able to call one for you once ID of species is confirmed.

🐝Bee keepers will NOT remove bumblebees! Honey bees only!

🐝Bumblebee relocation may be an option but success rate of survival is usually low once relocated. (I no longer offer this service)

🐝Bees are the greatest pollinators on this planet and we should try and save them as best we can.

🐝Bee removal is the last option. If the bees pose a safety risk then removal should be carried out by a qualified professional pest controller.

Please try and save any bee populations as they are only active for a short period of time in the year.

***Update - van is working again thanks to the efforts of Gordon and his team at GT Autocare totally outstanding service to turn this around in a day of receiving the van.

I've tried to squeeze everyone in as much as possible and any new bookings will likely need to be at the end of next week now ***.

Van has broken down and needs fixed. Won't be doing any jobs on Thursday (19/3/26). 😞😤

Will update everyone when operational again. I'll contact all customers that have been booked in to reschedule.

Rats, Rats, Rats

The number of call outs for rats have been increasing steadily in the last year. It does seem like there's more than ever just now. They also seem to be getting bigger (at least the ones I've been trapping of late).

The brown rat (Rattus Norvegicus/Norway Rat) seen here in the photos is the most prevalent rat in the UK can be a vector for several human diseases.

Over £20k in fines and other costs to a food business owner due to an uncontrolled mouse infestation 😳 Should have just hired pest control instead, would have been easier, cheaper and most importantly, safer.

As much as feeding the birds is nice to do and lovely to watch them in the garden, bird feeders also draw in vermin unfortunately.

Try and put feeding stations in the centre of a garden away from fences and trees. Regularly collect the dropped feed and remove asap (a collection tray below the feeding station can help with that). Squirrel/rat proof feeding stations also help but very few are completely vermin proof in my experience.
