Joy's Hope Cancer Journey πππ
Update:
1000 comment challenge
1000 share challenge in support of cancer awareness!
Friends, hi. Iβm Joy, a Canadian mom of 5 and a wife. Life was goodβ¦ until cancer changed everything.
I was diagnosed with colon cancer under 50, something that normally isnβt even screened for where I live until 50. I had all the signs, but it still took 5 months and eventually an emergency surgery to get answers. Within hours of diagnosis, I was in surgery. My cancer was caught late.
Since then Iβve had lung surgery, chemo, and radiation. Life is still hard, but I do my best to keep going.
Tonight I realized I usually share this in cancer spaces⦠but maybe it needs to be seen by everyone.
Ladies, please go for your mammograms. I did mine years ago, and because my breasts had changes from nursing my children, I needed an ultrasound afterward for clarity. And thatβs okay with meβnursing my kids was one of the best choices in my life.
And everyone, please listen to your body. Advocate for yourself. If something feels wrong, keep pushing until someone listens.
I still canβt get over that it took so long for my diagnosis. Not one doctor thought to send me for a colonoscopy.
Thatβs why I speak up now.
I share awareness. I write poems and songs about cancer, chemo, scanxiety, and survival. I also share lighthearted pieces too, because life is still life.
But my message is simple tonight:
Early detection can save lives.
If you read this far, I am asking you to please press SHARE. Not tomorrow. Not later. Right now.
One click could help this message reach someone who needs a mammogram. One click could encourage someone to ask for a colonoscopy. One click could help save a life.
Letβs make this message go around the world. ππ
I cannot do that alone. I need your help.
Please share this post and help me spread awareness about cancer, screening, and the importance of listening to your body.

If you know someone going through cancer, feel free to share my page with them. If my words, music, or poetry help even one person feel less alone, that means everything to me.
And yes⦠I even wrote a poem for Céline Dion. One day I hope she hears it.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for caring. And thank you for sharing.
Your friend,
